How do I uninstall Lion?

I know the Install disk works, aaa I just used it yesterday to install SL on an older MacBook
That doesn't necessarily mean it's the right one.
Has it ever booted the Mac you're having trouble with?
If it's a gray disc, it will only boot Macs of the same model and build period it came with.
If it's a white Retail disc, it should boot any Mac, as long as the Mac didn't come with a later version of OSX than the version on the disc.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............It looks Liike like Mr. Eric Westby is right on !
Maybe spotlight was indexing and thats whay my MBA 2008 was not budging. I think I'll wait until there is a 10.7.2 or so and then retry.
I also saw Lion was killing my MS word / excell (I have the ancient first Office for Mac X- I kept it because Numbers does not read some .xls well.) I'm strictly iWork now especially since Keynot does a beter job of exporting .ppt than M$ own PowerPoint (I'v tried a few newer versions) does!
Yes - it is the disk that came with this MBP. I've started from it (pre-Lion) many times on this machine, and several others actually. None of the methods used to boot from the disk now have any effect, beyond those already mentioned. Most curious. I'm going to the Genius Bar today for some help.
Very strange. You're not the only one; there are a few others who seem to be having the same problem (although some had the wrong disc and/or were doing the wrong thing).
I did that many times in beta testing, since February, without a problem. And there were many others testing, too, with a large forum. If anybody else had that happen, they never posted it. Plus, there were many Developers testing, too (with different forums; no telling if any of them had it happen).
Whatever it is, must be something rather weird. Not much consolation, though. 😟
Let us know if you find anything out, but I suspect this is one the Geniuses won't know about; you may end up having to call AppleCare.
I followed your instructions and went back to Snow Leopard. I have one
problem, I can't find my address book.

Just "C" while starting should boot from the disc in the SuperDrive.
Or, Option while starting should show the Startup Manager, where you can select what you want (the disc in the SuperDrive may not appear for a few moments).
If not, and you're using a wireless keyboard, try a wired one. Wireless ones are supposed to work, but sometimes the connection doesn't get established quickly enough.
I'm really enjoying the new OS. Here's what I did to prep my MacBook Pro
I made a carbon copy of my drive as well as manually copied my Library and User folder.
I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled Snow Leopard and installed all updates. Then I reinstalled all my apps and then made a disc image of it.
When Lion was released, I installed it and now I have moved all my files over. The laptop is running great! I've had no issues or slowness what so ever. I feel it's even sped up the laptop with 4GB RAM and a 320GB HD.
Its been great since running Lion!
That's harsh. Your comment irks me.
I'm on a 2011 iMac with 4GB RAM and it's insanely slow for me too. Don't think RAM is the culprit here...
What is it then, you reckon? I own the first Air 1.6 GHz, 2GB RAM and it's slow with Lion. There are people who say their Airs are not that slow, some even claim it's even a bit faster. What is slowing us down then, if it is not RAM?
Does the Macbook Air have a solid state drive? If not, I remember those shipping with a 4200 rpm rotational drive. That in itself is a major performance bottleneck.
For uninstalling LionOS X, you'll have to use SnowLeopard Disc or previous version & then do an Erase & Install
Every vendor looks after retrogrades in case "**** happens" Even Microsoft. Usually the only way to find out is to go ahead and try and, yes, problems can be expected. Apple should have had the foresight to offer a process to remove lion (for the time being) if things did not go as planned.

Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard. I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Kappy!
I've just bought my Mac two weeks ago, and upgraded it to Lion three days ago, and it was DRIVING ME CRAZY! Few apps didn't work, it was a lot slower... I love Snow Leopard! Why didn't they just released the Launchpad and MissionControl apps to SL? Were the only news i've noticed on lion, other than getting slower and don't run lot of apps.
Anyway,
Thanks Kappy! Your help brought me back to work with a smile!
