Q: Is it me, or are there major issues with iTunes update 10.4.0.80?

Is it me, or are there major issues with iTunes update 10.4.0.80? I cannot get it to connect to the iTunes store, nor will it back-up my iPhone. I also cannot paste album art. I see a lot of posts referring to the same issues, but no official replies from Apple. It's as if they are acting as if there is nothing wrong.

iTunes 10.4 is crashing when it syncs music or photos.  I never had this problem under 10.3.1.  I've tried completely uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling, but it still crashes.  This is on Windows XP SP3.

I get the following error when syncing music or photos:

    AppName: itunes.exe     AppVer: 10.4.0.80     ModName: quicktime.qts

    ModVer: 7.69.80.9     Offset: 001cd746

Also having problems when dragging artwork.

And, with the update to iTunes 10.4 I cannot use the mini-toolbar on the window's taskbar thumbnail on Windows 7 (those buttons to control the application's playback)

    I have 64-bits based OS & iTunes.

Mine keeps crashing too. 10.3 was stable. If you figure out how to go back to 10.3 Post here. I guess we learned our lessons about updating.

I'm running 10.4.0.80 on win7 and have had nothing but problems since updating to 10.4. First of all, I cannot get to the store. Well, mostly, sometimes it puts up some partial textual gibberish, but still can't get anywhere useful. It's also having major issues recognizing my devices (1 iPod nano, 1 iPod Touch G1, 5 iPod Touch G3, 1 iPhone 3G, 1 iPhone 4), backing them up and syncing. And worst of all, iTunes (and AppleMobileDeviceService.exe) is consuming massive amounts of CPU time and causing my PC fan to blow full blast and become very hot and noisy.

I've tried unisntalling iTunes and reverting to 10.3, but it won't even start up! Seems as if I'm stuck with 10.4, but it doesn't work. Please Apple, HELP.

I too am having major troubles with accessing itunes store. I am running Win7 32bit OS.

I have tried EVERYTHING suggested here and I am becoming increasingly frustrated with not accessing itunes.

Ive lost 700 songs off my ipod and cannot get back in anywhere to put them back on. I updated the 10.4 itunes, had to restore my ipod, and now, this...

I dont know what else to do... My firewall is allowing itunes access, I am not getting any error messages other then itunes has timed out. I am lost and dont know what to do other then what others have also said just wait for the next update...This is the first time I have not been able to resolve any issue on my own APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!!

After the upgrade to 10.4.0.8 I also had problems. The major one was that I was unable to access the iTunes Store. I follow the advise of uninstalling all the apple products (iTunes, QuickTime, Safari, etc) and then restarted the computer. After that, I reinstalled iTunes (which also installed QT and the other programs). That seemed to fixed the problem so far. I haven't reinstalled Safari yet, but as of now, iTunes seems to be working fine.

    I'm running Windows 7 64 bit.

Thousand is a serious overstatement when there are only 21 responses to this thread.

Some may be having a legitimate issue, but 21 individuals reporting an issue is not a "serious" issue.

I have noticed several mentioning Safari on Windows... why in the world would you install Safari on Windows?  There are better browsers for WIndows... heck, IE is better than Safari on Windows.

There are thousands of users running the latest version of iTunes that are not experiencing issues, so no, it's not serious.

I don't even know what your talking about. If there are 21 people on this thread reporting problems then the actual problems are on a much larger scale since most people don't report problems on this forum becuase "most" of the people who use iTunes doesn't even belong to this forum. What are you even talking about Safari for? I did not notice when I updated that it even installed Safari. I uninstalled it after I realized it. Was it a problem with Safari that caused it? No more usless ranting. Post only questions or usefull information.

I am also experiencing a significant issue since I upgraded to 10.4 - none of my songs will play, either in the Library or from the iTunes store.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling (both iTunes and Quicktime) but I consistently get the same issues. I have also had major problems when trying to switch libraries over.

I'm trying to revert back to 10.3 now.

The only problem I seem to be having is not being able to access the iTunes Store. Syncing etc. seems to be working fine for me on my iPod and iPhone on Vista 64.

After upgrading today to the latest iTunes 10.4.0.80, I have had numerous problems.  I immediately get the error message "iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services.  Reconnect or try again later.".

Hitting the "OK" box, things appear normal.  But then I noticed that I have no ability to choose my contact, calendar, or mail sync choices from the pull-downs.  There are no choices now.

My phone will not sync.  iTunes opens in a window that exceeds the size of my screen.  I can move it and resize it smaller, but it opens larger that the screen.  I am unable to sync bookmarks, either (there are no choices for where to sync from; all pull-down menus are blank).

    This version is a mess.

I am running Windows 7, 64-bit, fully up to date.  I have an iPhone 4 with the latest iOS 4.3.4

I'm getting really annoyed with this new version of iTunes. My problem is quite different from all of those listed here: iTunes 10.4 just doesn't display properly on my screen. The itunes window I get when I open it is ridiculously shifted upwards, so that I can't access the menus. My songs work fine, the store too, but I just can't see half of the program! I tried everything: restarted my computer, re-installed iTunes, shifted my taskbar, and the problem is yet unsolved.

Thank you iTunes for so much unnecessary trouble!

Yep!  Issues here too!  Since upgrade yesterday, iphone 4 crashes itunes when syncing.  It gives an error message about photo optimization, but I think it is actually my videos.  I have Win 7, and less than 200 pics and less than 10 1 min. videos I am trying to sync.  I have had these same ones for a while now, so nothing new is causing the problem.  My iphone has only used half of athe disc space with all my music, apps and photos.  APPLE, ARE YOU LISTENING?
