I installed Safari 5.1 and this WebKit@WebProcess.exe *32 is running up some memory, just a couple a moments ago up to 192,363 K of memory. I can't open Microsoft Works documents, it will not let me change a file destination. What does it do? Do I need it? Should I uninstall safari 5.1?

I have a similar problem. When I run Flash games on facebook within the CPU crashes.

I have had the same issues with both my laptop and Win7 PC.
Started when I updated Apple products. ( End July 11 )
iphone and ipad would not sync as couldn't access itunes store.
I was unable to access itunes store. Played around with Broadband link / firewalls / etc but no joy.
Even bought a new router as though might be an issue with BB provider e.g. British Telecom - but does not seem to be the case.
After a day and a half I have tracked down problems to 2 possible issues :
(1) New Quicktime - as is embeded for itunes and Safari ( I think )
(2) Webkit2webprocess - seems to have a MASSIVE draw on CPU usage - amazing.
Both ipad and iphone can access store without any issues.
Hope a solution comes soon altough is too late for my ipad as had to restore to base config due to error in Sync.

Safari 5.1 and “WebProcess”: PROBLEM SOLVED
The culprit is “Little Snitch”
I am running OS 10.6.8 (Lion-ready). Yesterday, I installed the Safari updater from 5.0.5 to 5.1 . . . and am experiencing repeated and annoying pop-up windows for "WebProcessing."
I found the culprit to be the third-party utility "Little Snitch" — which monitors outgoing internet connections. (http://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch/index.html).
I solved the problem by upgrading (FREE) Little Snitch v2.0.x to v2.4 (for Snow Leopard and Lion).
PROBLEM SOLVED.
One thing that seemed to bring Safari 5.1 under control in Windows 7 is to disable extensions in the preferences.
Safari may still be using a lot of ram, but at least for me it has stopped hogging my CPU,
I'll write in again after I've tested this out a little more,
has anyone else seen improvement after disabling extensions?
Hi, I have the same problem... I tested my PC (as the problem is on my laptop) and Safari 5.1 is fine.. Yes, FINE! Hmm..
After doing some research, re-installing Safari and ending up every time on this page it dawned on me that the other day I installed Windows Live Essentials (installed only Messenger) and Silverlight. As my PC doesn't have this installed 2+2 made 4 for a change and, well, it looked like it was them causing the problem.
Soooo, I removed both of these and Safari is back to normal...

What is WebKit2WebProcess.exe *32? It is making my laptop slow and will not let me open Windows Works. (172,760 K in memory usage)
