I don't want to mess around with moving files around in my directory. I want iTunes to release an update that will take care of :

Error: AppleSyncNotifier.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll

I called itunes @ 800-275-2273 and was told I had to pay 49.95 to talk to someone who could help with iTunes in Windows

Or send an email using:

apple.com/support/itunes/contact.html

Good grief, enough is enough! Why is it taking so long for Apple to release an update to fix this problem for people who are running Windows 7, 64-bit??? I did try to move SQLit3.dll and it's not even on my computer.

Everytime I boot up my computer, I get that awful "clunk" sound with the error. This has been going on for about a month now. Thank God I don't have to rely on iPhones, but I would like to be able to have songs play that are in my iTunes library. Apple doesn't want to help anybody that does not have one of their devices, but they don't have a problem selling songs with weird extentions to Windows people.

I never would have chosen iTunes to build a music library, which includes many songs I have purchased from the iTunes store. That was probably 8 or more years ago and back then, iTunes had the best selection of songs that I could find at the time, so that is why I chose it. I wish I knew then what little I know about iTunes!

Please, iTunes, do an update for people like me.

@Janet

I feel your pain, and you have a fair question for Apple. Unfortunately Apple, in common with many software companies, can't distinguish between a problem you have with their 'perfect' software, and a problem they have caused you with what is really most imperfect.

As I remarked in my first post, I found a fix for this dated April 2010, so it's been going on for a long time without Apple ever fixing it. And it isn't just Win 7 64-bit it affects; it's every WinOS, AFAICT.

And no, it shouldn't be necessary for you to get down and dirty with Windows Explorer to deal with this, and yes, Apple should release a version of iTunes - specially if necessary - to address this.

But unless and until they do, I'll repeat my recipe for how you fix this; though if what you really want is to rail ineffectually at Apple, rather than make the problem go away, I guess you'll prefer to ignore it.

The probable reason you can't find the file is that on Win 7 64-bit, you have to look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support, and copy (NOT move) the file to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support.

As I said; it's Program Files (x86) on 64-bit WinOSes, but just Program Files on 32-bit ones.

If you sprang for that $50, you certainly wouldn't get an upgraded iTunes; at best an Apple tech might reach out to your machine and do the above, assuming (s)he knew what the fix was.

Bite the bullet and look again; if you aren't comfortable copying files yourself, find a friendly techie to do it for you.

And whatever is left over from the $50 after that, you can spend on nifty tunes from the Apple store :-)

Awww, Thanks Midnight! You made me smile. "I feel your pain." - still reminds me of Bill Clinton and all the commedians who did a good job at mimicking him. Also, I know you really mean it.

For the next couple weeks, I will be buried in "moving" to a different apartment and all the stuff that goes along with that, so as long as this error doesn't do something bad to my computer, my iTunes library is really not a priority right now. I would hate to lose it because of the many hours I spent creating it, but it wouldn't be the end of the world. I have my music files all backed up on an external drive (which happens to be a slightly unorganized mess - I don't know when I should just let Windows put stuff where it wants as compared to where I want and it seems they've changed some of that over the years too). I really do need a "friendly techie" to sit down with me for several hours and help me clean up my files and teach me a few things.

Most of my family and friends think I am "the computer techie" just because I figured out how to take pics and make a nice slideshow with music - LOL!

I know our local library has volunteers come in to teach certain computer classes for free. Maybe that would be a good place to start - I mean one of those kind souls may be willing to meet me at the library and help me on a one-on-one basis.

Asking computer-related questions is kinda like asking for directions to drive somewhere. If you ask the same question to more than one person at the same time - well, you can guess what happens. There is just so much about computers that doesn't make sense - and for me, having about 7 different ways to do many of the same things on computers makes it even more difficult. It's nice to have choices and everyone has preferences. I don't know enough about computers to discern which way is the best for me though.

I will heed your advice and after I get moved and settled, hopefully I will find a good computer whiz that would be willing to help me. You don't happen to live near Akron OH, do you, Midnight? 😀

I wish iTunes and Apple would just do the right thing. As far as I'm concerned, Microsoft can be grouped right along with them. I don't think they care how many countless hours they waste of probably millions of people's time - the people who purchase and use their products daily and have come to depend on them. It's sad there is so much power and greed associated with those who run these big companies.

Shoutout to Jason in Toronto: THIS WORKS!

I had the same error message for weeks and couldn't get by it. I'd tried the program repair solutions and moving the sqlite3.dll to the locations specifed in other messages in this thread. Nothing worked.

It didn't become serious until I needed to upgrade the software on hy iPhone and the Apple Mobile Device Service would not stay started. I followed these instructions to uninstall the applications in order, rebooted, then did a clean install of iTunes from the Apple website and now it all works, with no error message. This takes a little longer but not more than 30 minutes and it worked.

NB: Make sure your AV is disabled while you're running the uninstalls. If you have a registry cleaner that you're using regularly, either turn it off or make sure it is not deciding on its own where the .dlls belong or should be shared.

@Janet - Glad to be of service, and happy to give you a smile.

I see there's a new iTunes release just arrived this evening, so you might want to install that and see if Apple finally did the right thing.

If not, I'm afraid I'm a bit far from Akron at the moment - Cheltenham England to be exact.

I'll be swinging by your neighbourhood (look at that 'extra' u, that should be a clue where I'm from) on September 20th, when my wife and I take a rail trip clear across the USA, but we'll be overnighting on the Lake Shore Limited, and I figure it doesn't do request stops. 😝

So if iTunes is still delinquent, I hope you find a good computer tech in your neighborhood (ooh look, I'm already practising for the trip).

Aug 24, 2011 12:53 AM in response to Midnight_Voice

Hey Midnight, Thanks for the "heads up" about a new iTunes release. We'll see how long it takes for it to pop up and let me know it wants on my computer. I usually just give it an "OK" - but now, I think I may check first to see if it is correcting problems or just making more problems for others who updated.

So you're from England! - I got to spend a year mostly in Austria as an exchange student during 1974/75. I even got to visit London for a few days and it was wonderful to hear English everywhere after spending months trying to speak and understand German.

I was so impressed with the public transportation and sadly the US is still so far behind Europe in that department. I just loved riding the trains - such a wonderful way to travel. I'd really like to take a long cross-country train trip sometime. It's the best way to see the countryside in my opinion (at least in Europe it was). I hope you and your wife have a great time and I imagine most Americans will just love your accent. I often wonder how accents and spellings got changed, i.e., practice/practise and neighborhood/neighbourhood. I think English is a hard enough language as it is and then Americans had to go and change it even more! What was that all about? Maybe I will google it sometime.

I wish you and your wife safe travels and a most wonderful time!

I do have the same problem as @grahamfromluton with libxml2.dll issue. After updating my itunes, I've been having this error at star-up on my lappy for a week now... "Applesyncnotifier.exe - Entry point not found. The procedure entry point xmlTextReaderConstName could not be located in the dynamic link library libxml2.dll". At long last, I managed to fixed it now. Thanks @ Midnight_Voice! This is what i did.

Do this: Go to My Computer, then local disk(C:)/Program Files/Common Files/Apple/Apple Application Support then right-click libxml2.dll file and select copy then go back to the Apple folder then select Mobile Device Support then right-click and paste libxml2.dll to add it in the folder.

'Ope it would help u guys! (",)

iTunes 10.5 reintroduces the bug(s) described above :-(

and needed the SQLite3.dll fix reapplying on both my Vista and my W7-64 laptops.

Sigh... when oh when are Apple ever going to knock this family of issues on the head?

And more - when did it become acceptable for an install to delete a file that wasn't put there by a previous install?

If the 10.5 update had left each SQLite3.dll that I manually installed in place, everything would have been fine and dandy, as it hasn't been updated in this release.

@Janet

Lovely USA trip, thanks - Niagara was awesome!

Hope you found someone to help fix your computer....

Oct 19, 2011 9:00 PM in response to Midnight_Voice

Hey Midnight! Glad you enjoyed your trip. I did spend about 2 hours with a local computer expert and he did help me with several issues, but we never did get around to fixing this Apple problem. I uninstalled iTunes and then reinstalled its latest version (on my own). At least I can get songs from my iTunes library to play now on my computer, but there is still that maddening SQLite3.dll error along with its "clunk" sound whenever I boot up. Grrrr. Since it doesn't seem to affect my usual activity with my iTunes music library, I'm not gonna worry about it. Hopefully one day we'll see them fix it. Not holding my breath though.
