Thank you ComputerWild!  This actually worked!  I saved your link to my desktop in preparation for the next iTunes update.  Everytime iTunes did an update, I prayed that it would fix this problem.  So far, the Apple people haven't fixed it, but you found a way!  Yay for you!  Seems like I've been getting this error for over a year.  Now, it's so nice to boot up my computer without hearing that awful "clunk" sound along with that maddening error.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Well you just need to replace the version of sqlite3.dll which is too old and doesn't contain the function "sqlite3_wal_checkpoint"

SOLUTION:

1- Download the lastes version of sqlite3.dll:

http://www.opendll.com/index.php?file-download=sqlite3.dll&arch=32Bit&version=3. 7.5.111&dsc=SQLite3-Dynamic-Link-Library

2- Extract the dll file in your c;:\windows\system32 folder

3- Restart your PC.

My issue was with the libmxl2.dll. 

I followed the steps and copied it from the Apple Application Support folder to the Mobile Device Support folder, rebooted and it went away.

I have tried all 3 solutions offered. It worked about 3 itunes updates back but hasn't since and everytime I get the procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint.... This time none of them have worked. Any other ideas? It's annoying. I wish Apple would fix the problem.

This is why I don't support Apple any longer... Seriously this has been a problem with every iTunes update for nearly a year. Updated iTunes today and i'm sitting with the same problem. While the fix is easy enough it is annoying and a waste of time. Surely it can't be that hard??? Do apple not read these threads, do they not test their products, or do they just not care?

     It's a TRIVIAL reconfiguration of the INSTALLER application. A 1st year Software Engineer could fix it.

It seems EVIDENT no one at Apple reads this thread. Look at all the activity, and all the remedies provided, and yet they are clueless about either.

Do they not test their products?

The presence, frequency and duration of the problem answers this question; answer is self evident.

Or do they just not care?

Customers can ONLY summize that they just don't care. They've already gotten their money from us consumers. The ONLY way they'll care if when we start buying different products with better support and it affects the stock price. Screaming doesn't help. Calling Tech support and logging the problem doesn't help. Writing on their knowledge base doesn't help. Obviously, they just DON'T care.

Once again, here is the link to help this itunes error.   http://www.computerwild.com/downloads.html .  It's a download and click batch file that's comprised of several of the solutions in this thread in one file.  All you have to do is download and run the file.  Until Apple fixes their itunes, this is probably the next best solution.

There are many files named SQlite3.dll, If you have a problem with windows not finding this file uninstall trend micro virus software and you will be good to go

For those of us who can't uninstall what isn't currently installed, or who find this advice dubious anyway;HERE IS THE COMPLETE AND ONGOING EFFECTIVE FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM.

And yes, I know I'm shouting, but this seems to need shouting :-(

Look at the post from Computerwild above. Go to his site and download the file he mentions.

Put it on your desktop, and run it every time you update iTunes and still get the error message after rebooting. (You could run it straight after installing iTunes, but then you would never know if Apple had finally fixed this problem or not. If they ever do).

To ensure it can make the necessary changes, run it by right-clicking it and choosing 'Run As Administrator', if this option is present in the right-click menu, otherwise you can just run it normally.

There are two files that can cause the 'boink' problem, and the solution is different for 32-bit OSes and for 64-bit ones.

But the Computerwild solution handles all 4 combinations, and fixes all known problems in this area (or at least all of those reported in this thread, which is about the same thing).

And keeping it handy on your desktop (or wherever) means you can reapply it easily after every iTunes update.

Which is going to be necessary for as long as Apple don't just neglect to fix this problem, but actively break the fix we have, every time they release a new version of iTunes.

Well it seems you are right that it is going to keep happening.  I updated itunes and it happened again - October 2012. Doesn't seem right that it has been 2 years and it keeps happening with every update. However. the batch file is a great solution so I don't have to search for this post every time it happens. Thank you for the batch file solution!
