iPod Classic Produces No Sound Thru JVC kw-avx640

My stereo recognizes, reads the iPod and displays the art and even shows the song playing on the screen but produces zero sound. Everything else on the stereo plays sound; FM, CD, DVD and even the 1/8 jack audio input with the same iPod. Just no iPod sound with USB. I have all settings set to iPod. What could cause this?

Choosing "iPod" for initial set-up on JVC actually disables the iPod USB. You need to sellect A/V in for some strange reason. I guess "iPod" is for use only with iPod video and the JVC-U30 optional wire connector.
