Using E Fax with OSX Lion.  HELP

My E Fax does not work and when I down load a Mac Version from E Fax it tells me that Powerbook applications are not compatible any more. I suspect that EFax is not ready for Lion. Does anyone else have this problem ??

Lion does not support any PPC applications. They ran under Rosetta in Snow Leopard and that is no longer part of the OS. I'm afraid you'll have to look for a different fax application.

Just by the way, it's a bad idea to put your email address in your posts. Web crawling bots go looking for such and harvest them for spam targets, among other things. I've notified the Apple Support Communities moderators asking them to remove it, but it may be after hours for them right now.

I have been dealing with this nonsense size loin came out. As a workaround I send it via their (Efax) website. I have an app for the iphone that works ok but this is a huge pain.

I guess there are a number of companies that did not get the iCloud impact with Lion such as Microsoft, Intuit and Efax amongst other "visionaries". I agree, I would not put any windows garbage on any machine I have from Apple. I have sent faxes on E fax over the website from China and elsewhere under hard circumstances without problem but I prefer to have the damm thing working as they stated it would. The biggest problem is that I am still paying their price for the service. If they had a price revolt, they might react.

Hi. I just tried to contact eFax because this issue is not resolved. With the upcoming release of Mountain Lion you would think eFax would have a solution by now. I have been with them in the PC world since they started, i have a legacy account. I am completely turned off by their foot dragging.

I wish Apple had the following solution: have faxes sent to iCloud and then iCloud pushed them as PDF to all devices. This would be a very welcomed solution for we business travelers. I have to fight to use my MacBook Air because corporate techies want to pry it from my hands and force me to use a PC. I keep holding them at bay but I am beginning to lose the fight. They are now countering my weight and tech issue with air by pointing to ultrabook.

I am not sure I understand your suggestion as a solution to the problem cited in this thread since the solution seems suggest a problem with receiving faxes, not sending them. The eFax issue, as you know, is that the ability to send faxes has been hampered by Lion and we are forced to use the eFax web interface. I have no problem receiving my faxes as PDFs in my email. Have I missed something?

Yes. Thanks. I forget that receiving faxes as PDF is part of the paid service to which my company subscribes. I was always under the impression that that efx file format was really just a tiff with a different extension and that if you renamed the file with a new extension it would open as a tiff. I could be completely offbase on that, but as I understand it, you are only a phone call away form eFax changing your default file format for received faxes to Tiff.

I have become so frustrated with eFax for not addressing the send situation that I begun referring to the service as eFrax (fans of the newer Battlestar Galactica will get that, I think).

Frankly, I am a little timid about calling eFax and asking for a conversion to Tiff. I am sure they consider me a free loader since I do not subscribe to paid service anymore. I start a new job in 3 weeks and don't know how the new company is going to address my tech needs. I am a Road Warrior so these issues have a major impact. I have hated PC ever since I had a laptop with 6 different operating systems on it and couldn't do a presentation one day for a major corporate account. Amazing how the loss of a $6M account will get you a new laptop. And the CIO fired!

Okay, here is the answer from efax customer support. Looks like they are going to change it for me from an email ingteragatory.

Thank you for contacting eFax Customer Support.

eFax Messenger is currently not compatible with Macintosh Lion; however, we are actively working on a version that will be compatible. We regret to inform you that we can not predict the exact date by which Macintosh Lion will be compatible. You will be updated on this once it is compatible.

You may receive your fax format to tif.

Faxes received in .TIF format can be opened in any imaging software. For opening multiple page faxes in .tif format you need to download the multi page .tif viewer on to your computer which is available on the internet.

Please feel free to contact us again for any further assistance.

If you wish to change your fax format to tif, please reply this e-mail with eFax number and PIN/ZIP Code confirming the same.

Sincerely,

- Ann J.
