Using E Fax with OSX Lion.  HELP

My E Fax does not work and when I down load a Mac Version from E Fax it tells me that Powerbook applications are not compatible any more. I suspect that EFax is not ready for Lion. Does anyone else have this problem ??

Lion does not support any PPC applications. They ran under Rosetta in Snow Leopard and that is no longer part of the OS. I'm afraid you'll have to look for a different fax application.

Just by the way, it's a bad idea to put your email address in your posts. Web crawling bots go looking for such and harvest them for spam targets, among other things. I've notified the Apple Support Communities moderators asking them to remove it, but it may be after hours for them right now.

Are you saying that the actual application will load from their download as when I download then application so I can fax, it tells me that the application is not compable with this operating system and ID's Lion as a Powerbook app !! I recieve faxes in PDF already and would now have to use the web application to send. This is what they replied to me:

Dear Dan,

Thank you for contacting eFax customer support.

eFax Messenger is currently not compatible with Macintosh OS.; however, we are actively working on a version that will be compatible. We regret to inform you that we can not predict the exact date by which Macintosh OS will be compatible. You will be updated on this once it is compatible.

You may receive your fax format to tif.

Faxes received in *.TIF format can be opened in any imaging software. For opening multiple page faxes in .tif format you need to download the multi page .tif viewer on to your computer which is available on the internet. Please feel free to contact us again for any further assistance.

If you wish to change your fax format to tif, please reply this e-mail with eFax number and PIN/ZIp Code confirming the same.

Sincerely,

Zack L

If you login to efax you can view your faxes online if you have a free account. I just did it. I was looking for a way to have it send me PDFs, but didn't see an option. I guess that is if you pay for the account. But, at least we can view the faxes through their system while we wait for a new version of the efax app. Whew.

Make sure to click the link to the fax that says "View Fax" so you can rotate it and zoom in. I just zoomed and and did a drag and drop to my desktop and got a nice sized PNG to view and print.

It's a bit of a pain, but I only get one fax a month or something.

I have a paid account and have used it for many years worldwide without problem I receive faxes just fine. Sending this is a problem as there is no software compatible yet for Lion. I have decided not to upgrade my laptop Macbook Pro until they have an upgrade. Do not mind being a bit slower to upload documents from my home of office but on the road, I have enough challages

Thanks

gizmodesign - Could you please elaborate? So I get an email from eFax that has a fax document attached in EFX format. I click on Fax Viewer click on the icon and then control-click on the .efx file?

What is Fax Viewer? Another software program?

(I haven't upgraded to Lion yet - I have to upgrade my accounting software and solve my fax issues first.)

Thanks in advance for your help.
