Don't try to install software from the CD that came with your printer, simply connect it to your Mac Air, and you should get the drivers via Software Update when adding the printer. To scan from it, you will need to use Image Capture (found in your Applications folder.) The scanning application from HP will likely not work until HP releases an updated version.

Hi

as said before, i'm on the new mac air, so no CD in my own..

moreover, when i connect my printer to my mac air 2011, software center isn't getting new driver.

imo, i'll wait for new software from HP or for an update from hpijs ?!

is it a good way in you opinion ?

thks a lot for your answer, c u soon 😉

I see, thanks for clarifying. If you try to add the printer, do you have a Generic Driver available under the Print Using drop-down?

If not, I think you should be able to select a Gutenprint driver for your printer using the same operation. What you need to do is, under Print Using, click on Select Printer Software. Then, type 1315 in the search box. You should come up with a Gutenprint driver that you can use.

With either of these drivers you might have limited capabilities for your printer, but it will allow you to print.

Besides this, I would definitely contact HP and find out when a driver for your printer will be available.

No problem understanding your English, by the way.

So, i tested your way yesterday evening.

I plugged in my printer, switched it on and went to System&Prefs / Printer...

I clicked on the "+" to add it, selected the entry "psc 1310 series" in the list and selected the "HP Deskject Series" driver in the list.

My printer seems to print correctly, but i can't scan any document.

Furthermore, i can't configure nicely the printing options.

Any solution to install / configure perfectly my all-in-one device ?

Thks a lot 😉

Hi,

Glad that you can print now. Have you tried scanning through Image Capture? Just go to Applications > Image Capture.

I think HP is working on updated software for some of their printers, maybe yours is one of them.

What do you mean that you can't configure Printing Options? Do you mean you can't access the HP configuration utility?

Thanks.

I've been regretting my PSC1315 ever since Leopard. HP Promised they would work on a driver, but instead they now, after 5 years, advise using vuescan. Which costs just as much as a new scanner. I wish companies like HP would provide proper lasting support for their products, and find another way to make money than to keep selling us the same crap over and over again.

The scanner function works fine with vuescan, and other commercial scanning apps! why doesn't it work with image capture??

I found a way to make scanning on the HP 1315 work on Mavericks, though it wasn't very easy.

Basically I used the open source Linux drivers from HP itself together with SANE. It works very well.

I wrote my complete notes on this wiki:

http://wiki.nosdigitais.teia.org.br/Mac#Using_old_scanners_and_printers_through_ SANE

This process can be made simpler, though, mainly by having a mavericks package for HPLIP http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html

The above process can easily be mimmicked by more advanced users and developers to create a more convenient scanning app and sell it on the app store..
