Can't access NTFS shared folders any more

I submited my first negative feedback to Apple ...

I was able to resolve this problem by installing samba smb in OSX Lion. Check these two websites for information on how to accompish this: http://forums.sonos.com/showthread.php?t=24022 and http://www.johnlarge.co.uk/2011/07/19/osx-lion-samba-smb-shares-broken-xbmc-not- working/ .

Note: The above two websites give examples that will share files to anyone on your home network. If you want to password protect your files you will need to add a user with the command "sudo smbpasswd -a [user name]" and set "guest ok = no" in your smb.conf file.

Same problem here. I am Using two Lion-machines trying to share a NTFS-volume which is the proof that this is no Windows-Issue. According to Peter Robins, this worked in Snow Leopard, so this definitely is a Lion-issue.

Hey Apple, if you read this: This is a serious issue making it impossible to share NTFS-volumes from a Mac running Lion.

I will now give a feedback to apple and hope they will react providing a bugfix soon.

I reported to Apple but I also tried Caleb H's solution. Unfortunately it didn't work. Samba Installation looks fine but I can't access the Mac using smb://share_name. Did that solution work for you?

I wasn't able to access my shared files using the computer name either. However, you should be able to access them by typing in your your Mac's IP address in Windows preceded by "\\". i.e. \\192.168.1.100

I'm experiencing the same difficulties. With Snow Leopard (and older versions of Mac OS too) I was able to share my NTFS drives over the network. Since I installed Lion I've tried everything but I can't get my macbook to access the NTFS drive on the iMac, and for me this is a HUGE inconvenience.

No changes in 10.7.2... It's really getting annoying.

Any news on this, am experiencing the same problem and is really annoying.

I have the same problem with Seagte external drive formatted with NTFS system file, plugged in my Mac Ini using Lion,

when i try share my external drive in mac and browse the shared folder in windows xp, i get a not avaivable message,

this is a serius issue, i agree with FuManchu84 about this problem.

I have all the access to HPFS or whatever MacHD is but NTFS internal hard drive or external drive doesn't work.

Any one tested the 10.7.3 update with regard to this issue?

I'm currently pulling it down now.. Will report my findings.
