Pages stop responding to keystrokes? Keys not repeating? SOLUTION

SYMPTOMS:

• Pages and other apps stop responding to keystrokes in general or on some lines/paragraphs;
• TextEdit keys not repeating
• Shortcuts as Cmd C or Cmd V not being executed sometimes

this is the culprit: Lion's "type and hold" new functionality.

This is the solution until Apple solves that bug:

Open a terminal window type the next line and hit enter:

defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool false

then log out/login again and you will see your problems solved.

Change false to true if you want to turn it on again.

My problem was solved after that.
