how many copies of osx lion can you install from one itunes account

Since you can have up to 5 computers authorized with the same iTunes account, I believe the limit is 5.

As many Macs as you own.

According to the license file for OS X 10.7, "you are granted a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive license . . . to download, install, use and run for personal, non-commercial use, one (1) copy of the Apple Software directly on each Apple-branded computer running Mac OS X Snow Leopard or Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server (“Mac Computer”) that you own or control".

I believe it's five. It's tied to how many computers you can authorize with one iTunes account. (The same applies to music, apps, and other stuff downloaded from the iTunes Store)

The iTunes, 5 computer limit does not apply here. As per the license agreement, if you obtain Lion via the Mac app store, you are granted permission to install on all Snow Leopard Macs that you personally own/control. If you have Lion pre-installed on a new Mac or obtain it via a USB key purchase method (reportedly coming in August), the license only permits use on one Mac.

It has nothing to do with your iTunes account. The Mac App Store and the iTunes Store both use your same AppleID, but the two are completely separate entities.

Looks like I was mistaken. Nice to know they haven't changed their lax policy on licensing the OS - and that it also extends to other Mac apps!
