Updated to Lion and now my Wi-Fi no longer automatically reconnects when reawakening..... this on an iMac

Did the following on my iMac and my issue has been resolved (so far):
shutdown computer,
unplugged computer,
unplugged time capsule,
waited 5 minutes and plugged units back in.
Once the computer rebooted I created a new location name and deleted the offemding one. Selected a preferred network, entered password and saved changes. Now when the computer wakes or is restarted the wifi automatically syncs and I am good to go - 24 hours and counting.
Solved using these steps:
1. Applications -> Utilities -> KeyChain Acess
2. Click "login"
3. Delete all Airport related keys
4. Click "System"
5. Delete all Airport related keys
6. Go to the folder "/Library/Preferences" and drag the "SystemConfiguration" folder to the trash.
7. Resart (this will rebuild your settings)
8. Reconnect to Wi-fi network (and now immediately reconnects after sleep)
Apple Tech Support walked me through this step after a bunch of other steps that did not solve it. This one did.
Happy it worked for you but NO JOY for me.
Some time ago I removed all encryption and am only using MAC address filtering (ok, I know that's not the best but it does work and it removes all PKI questions from the equation).
As indicated previously, I have multiple wifi routers in my house and the problem is the same with both of them (one is an Apple Airport Extreme and the other is a Neatgear router).
Also indicated previously, I can wake the system and reconnect by going into a browser (I ahve Safari and Firefox) and just hitting the RELOAD button a time or two.
The problem does NOT seem related to bluetooth...NOT related to my TimeMachine installation. I can recreate it at will....
Sorry to sound like a kill-joy but there still is a problem there as this was NOT happening under Snow-Leopard.

MBP 15-inch, 2.53GHz, Mid 2009, after upgrading to Lion my wireless would not reconnect to my Linksys (WRT54G on DD-WRT v24-sp2 10/10/09 voip SVN revision 13064) after waking up from sleep. Tried suggestions here such as removing wifi locations, moving to top, etc, etc. No luck
+1 on deleting all the keychain entries and resaving, which finally solved the problem.

I just wanted to say that I have tryed all the fixes in this thread and nothing has worked.
My only issue is reconnecting to my wireless after waking from sleep. As soon as I select my wireless network it connects fine and I have not other issues.
Also I only experience this problem when connecting to the 5Ghz band on my router (WNDR4000). 2.4Ghz mode will connect instantly.
I have a 2011 model iMac, which I bought in August, 2011.
I've been using Lion since then. I'm now using 10.7.3.
Until about a month ago, the Wi-Fi would reconnect automatically after a sleep.
I've had this problem about a month; it seems to have started with the next-to-last Airport software update, I think. (I usually just run all the updates, but don't log exactly what is updated.)
I use a Verizon M1424WR router, and, at Apple's recommendation, I just upgraded the encryption from WEP to WPA2. This upgrade went smoothly. This did not fix the problem.
(Software Update tells me that I'm up to date as of today, Feb 3, 2012.)
I plan to pursue this with Apple, and when I get a solution, I'll post it.

I've had this same problem for months. As far as I can remember, shortly after installing Lion it started.
I'm using an airport wireless router. I assumed 10.7.3 woudl fix this, but again after a third update I'm still getting this problem. I'm starting to get annoyed with it as I have to wait a about a minute before I can manually connect to wifi. When I don't have this problem, by the time the mac wakes it's already connected to wifi.
BoloMK33, Is there anything you consistenty see in your logs each time you have the problem?
For me, I always see these lines in my console logs when my mac fails to connect to wifi after waking:

Now, I've investigated the messages from each line. At first, like most people I thought it has something to do with keychain access and having a lock screen password. So like you I tried disabling authentication and still got the problem. I also thought changing wireless channel might help, trying a different router, and resetting PRAM/SMC. Nothing has helped.
This problem happens primarily with my macbook air at home, but it also happens with my macbook pro (more intemittantly so).
Now here's the funny thing. I went to America over xmas and the problem was fixed over there. I cam home and the problem was resolved, until last week. BIzzarely, after coming back from america it worked fine for about a month.
But what was the difference? Well for starters, while I was in the US and after coming back to the UK, one line in my console log had disappeared and everything worked fine when I never saw 'country code set to X3':
kernel: en0: 802.11d country code set to 'X3'.
While my macbook air was working fine, I just saw this log line:
kernel: en0: 802.11d country code set to 'GB'.
So, this is making me think it has something to do with locality settings or detection. However, I have no idea how a mac that hasn't connected to wireless knows what it's locality could be without a gps sensor or having it's locality manually set in sys prefs somewhere? Do wireless access points broadcast their locality? How does my macbook pro (when it works) know that it's lcoality is GB when things work fine?
I suppose if a mac connects to wifi just fine as it wakes it can probably ascertain it's locality using skyhook or somthing, so when wifi works locality detection works? So the message about X3 here is probably because there's another WIFI issue.
This is bugging me a fair bit though.
Well, it seems that we are close to creating an international incident with this one! Please be assured, fuzzlogic_uk, that we Yanks have had this problem as well.
I have experienced this problem for about a month, first with 10.7.2 and now with 10.7.3. It is an intermittent problem. Sometimes, the wi-fi works after the machine sleeps overnight, sometimes it doesn't.
I've tried all the fixes recommended, except for the PRAM business, and nothing has fixed it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I just ran the basic Apple Hardware Test, and it finds no problem with the hardware. (a 2011 iMac)

It has always worked, for me, so far, after power-up or restart, so maybe that's a clue. Maybe others can confirm this observation.
If I had the source code for the airport software, I'd start putting printf() statements in, and writing to a file somewhere. To see exactly what does or does not happen when waking from sleep. It's been a while, however, since I've done any debugging.
I know it does not help to say that my former computer, an Apple eMac, did not ever have this problem over the 8 years that I used it. It does not help, but it makes me feel better.
IF this is, indeed, an intermittent problem, then it may well appear to be fixed with various things, if the test is to restart the computer.

I am having the same problem on my week old iMac. I had no problems whatsoever on OSX 10.7.2 but after the upgrade to 10.7.3 I too am not able to auto connect to WiFi after waking up from 'Sleep' mode.
I have tried the combo install after the 10.7.3 update but that did not fix the problem.
I have found that if i bring the iMac out of Sleep mode using the power button everything works normally but when i use the mouse or keyboard the problem re-occurs.
I have tried all of the fixes mentioned on other threads but nothing has worked so far!
I hope the problem is resolved soon!

I find that using the power button to wake from sleep has worked 5 times in a row.
But using a mouse clidk still fails to restart wifi.
I'd hope that this is enough of a clue for Apple to fix the problem.

I have the Confiture IPv4 set to "Using DHCP"
I have the Configure IPv6 set to "Link-local only"
Click on the "Renew DHCP Lease" button.
Click on "OK"

VictorBK, I have tried what works for you but it has made no difference to me. After making the changes My iMac will still not Auto Connect to myWiFi connection when waking from Sleep mode.
I wonder if it makes a difference what iMac you are using as mine is a mid 2011 model with an i5 processor.
Hope a fix is available soon!
