Hi,
When you opened IChat for the First time were those Start up Screens where you entered your details ?
If so did you add the Password then ?
Ifyou did not then the Password is not saved to the Keychain (and iChat cannot access it)
When you open iChat it will prompt you for the password in a separate window (this may or may not have a option to Save the password.)
If the pop up window does offer to Save the Password but does not then check you have Read and Write access to the Keychain (Home Folder/Library/Keychains )
(Do a Get Info on the File from the Finder's File Menu and check the bottom panel then edit if required)
If not, delete the account in iChat Preferences > Accounts and re-add it.

MacBookPro 2Gb( 10.6.8)
Mac OS X (10.6.8),
"Limit the Logs to the Bits above Binary Images." No, Seriously
Do I give Keychain access by setting my access approval to "Everyone: Read & Write"
Hi,
It should list your Name and (Me) as in the word me in Brackets.
"You" should then have Read and Write Permissions.
You don't really want Everyone to Have Read and Write Permissions. In fact they should not even have Read.
In this case "Everyone" does include all other Mac User Accounts and any Guests logged in to your computer.
(They should not be able to access your Library or in fact anything in your Home Folder except the Drop Box (Public Folder). )

Odd... The picture shows that my permissions are set correctly with myself having read and write. BTW this is the new iChat under Lion. I can not seam to find the permissions for iChat by the path you suggested the other day.
Hi,
What I see in this Thread
Try using the Path in the Finder's Go Menu > Go to Folder option
