Internet connection not working after computer wakes up from sleep. OSX Lion

After upgrading to Lion, I noticed that my internet connection doesn't work when I wake my computer from sleep. I have to turn off the WiFi connection, turn it back on and it will work. I guess this is a glitch that will be fixed later on. Just wanted to point it out. I don't know if someone else is having the same problem? I am not very happy with the upgrade to Lion, things seem to be slower, I've had several freezes requiring to reboot. I guess Lion needed a little more twicking before release. Not worth the $29.99 price tag.

yup i have the same problem. Safari and thunderbird both say that they have no internet connection however skype is ok and also firefox (which is how i am viewing this webpage now!)

seems completely random, if i restart it is then ok, if i mess around with the settings but don't actually change anything it is then ok etc etc.

just one of a long list of glitches that i have had since upgrading!

I've got the same problem here, but mine's a little bit worse.

When I resume from sleep and the wifi isn't working even turning airport off and back on again it won't resolve the issue. I have to restart the whole machine. Very Windows Vista!

On one or two occasions I've actually turned my machine on after being completely shut down to be greeted with the issue.

I've spoken to a member of staff at the Apple store who tried deleting my library/preferences/systemconfiguration folder which didn't work. I've also tried repairing my disk permissions, setting my DNS to 8.8.8.8 and tried using a static DHCP address, all have failed.

I've got another genius appointment booked for Tuesday so hopefully some good will come out of it. I'll also be attempting to get a refund while I'm there because the update has broken a fundamental feature on my macbook and left it almost completely unuseable, so Apple have sold me a product that's not fit for purpose and that violates my statutory rights. Wish me luck lol.

This is on a mid 2010 macbook by the way.

Noticed a problem with my iMac (2010) after upgrading to OS Lion. When I turn on my computer and it's loading my desktop, it flickers and the internet (wifi) doesn't work. When I try to connect to the internet (wifi) manually it says "no hardware installed". after a restart everything works fine, no flickering and wifi works. hope they will fix this because I don't want to restart my computer every single time when I want to use it...

I have a 2011 MBA i7 with Lion preinstalled and have had this same problem since day one. All wireless networks. Put the computer to sleep. 30 seconds or more later open the lid and the wireless network will pop up that "None of your preferred networks are available". If I select my preferred network (it always shows in the list) and try to connect it will not. If I then select it again and try to join it will almost always connect that second time.

  • Reboot, shutdown: same thing
  • I have removed and re-added the network
  • I am syncing keychains via mobileme...(is anyone else doing this who also has this problem?).
  • The wireless network is solid...no other device has this problem.

Who else is having this on a new MBA??

Thanks...

I'm on a 2008 20-inch iMac with a Time Machine. Installed Lion on Day one. Problems with dropped name resolution since then. The common factor in all these reports is Lion, not the hardware.

My wifi network is always found, as are several others in the vicinity, yet it's constantly searching for other networks.

Turning sleep off eases the problem, but it still seems to pop up, especially starting up after being shutdown. Browsers -- Safari and Chrome -- often time out trying to load a page.

My iPad uses the same wifi with no problems.

I recently installed Lion for my 27 IMac.

My internet connection also keeps failing. I look at my network preferences and under wi fi I notice the imac produces its own IP address this means the computer is unable to join the internet.

My solution is to simply open Network Preferences click on Wi Fi then assist me then assistant. I then Click Continue twice and choose my router, once found I put in my pass word / Wep key then continue to finish. I am then connected.

It is not a full time fix but it does get me back on line.

My router is a BT Homehub wireless connection.

Hope it helps Apple please sort this issue
