Since I don't have that particular printer I can't tell you whether the driver is compatible with Lion or not. I do know that my printers are working without any printer updates. Have you tried deleting the printer in the printers tab of System Preferences and then reconfiguring it?
I have same printer and same result after upgrading to Lion. I talked to a technical representative at OKI today. He said a new driver is needed, which they will have on their website OKIdata.com in about a week.
Thanks for the heads up, I can stop pulling out the hair now!
Yes this has been attempted, thanks though.
I like Oki Data printers. It shouldnt affect the printing.
Go into your printer settings and change the driver to 'generic postscript printer'
I don't see any place where I can make that change. I go into System Preferences/Print and Scan/Options and Supplies/Driver, but it says print using OKI C3400, which is greyed out, and no driver is listed. There is no place to choose or enter "generic postscript printer.'
Try this, Remove your printer from the list, then re-add it, then go to Driver and select generic postscript printer.
Generic driver does'nt have as many options, but will get you by until the new drivers come out in mid September.
I did what you recommended, and the printer did at least respond more than before, but a new error message came up which the OKI technician I called said was a bogus message. He said I just had to wait for the correct driver. But thanks for trying to help, Ray.
Oki released the new driver but i still can't get it to print. Now their is an error and all prints just set in query.
The error is The optical photoconductor needs to be replaced.
I have tried all the recomendations that were suggested
Changing Protocol: to all three choices IPP, LPD, Socket
None of these had any effect on error.
The printer has been reported to work as a usb printer with new driver but I have not tested this theory.
When will apple fix the optical photoconductor needs to be replaced Error? Most printers are reporting this error and their has been an os update to 10.7.1 to 10.7.2 with no fix in sight. Please fix this issue.
Mine didn't work at first either. Here is what I did to get it to work. I deleted the existing driver in the printer set-up, then downloaded and installed the new driver from OKI website with my printer on. After that it has worked ever since. I hope that will help you. Let me know.
Thanks that worked; However still have the error message but it now prints. Thanks again.
I've had the exact problem with an oki c5500n. However, when I try to install the newest driver Mac OS says it can't finish the install without Rosetta. Can you put Rosetta on 10.7.2?
If the newest driver for OS X requires Rosetta then it is not very new.
There has been reports of users getting a version of Rosetta installed on their Lion Mac. Have a look at this posting.
What if you installed a driver in 32 bit mode?
