I have never tried to do this before i upgraded to Lion but I've decided now is the time for me to start using iCal. I googled how to do it and followed the various directions but nothing worked. I'm assuming this is due to the new version of iCal in Lion? Can anyone help?

Same here,can sync with .me and yahoo but no with gmail.
Just did it.
I select google but after click creat ei change CalDAV to exchange and done ...
Also try again choosing exchange instead of google in the photo and it says can't but click again and done
You can try do it in system preferences to add google and click to sync calendars etc ..
I tried both of those but with exchange it said "the exchange server is not responding" (gmail.com in this instance)
when i tried to do it in preferences it said "ical cant login to the caldav server google.com"
Right i sing in but it doesn't sync
First point click create again ..
Second change caldav for exchange
I can create and sign in but after in ical doesn't look like sync
