(Probably) SOLVED: Facetime on Lion

Hello, friends.

In order to run FaceTime on Lion, solving the server registration issue, you must create a new password key in Keychain, with the following parameters:

Name: com.apple.facetime: registrationV1

Account: registrationV1

Where: com.apple.facetime

Then, restart your Mac.

Best regards!

When adding a new password item, you must supply a password.

Are you giving it your factime account password?

Then *after* it's been saved, it seems like you would have to go back into the item and edit the "where" to be correct?

In looking at my other mac (that works) I do see two entries:

com.apple.facetime: registration

com.apple.facetime: registrationV1

Neither of them seem to have passwords explictly set. Yet I don't see a way to do that :/

Hello, DigitalAddict.

Yes, you must supply a password, your Apple ID password.

Good luck!

Still not workin' for me. I've tried all of the fixes:

Hosts file

DNS change to 8.8.8.8 on router

Adding password item

Glad these fixes are working for some folks.

I hope Apple can figure out what's going on here and repair it as Facetime was working great in Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
