Not sure if this is related at all to my recent upgrade to OS X 10.7, but I can no longer sync my iPhone 3G (3G, not 3GS) to my Mac via iTunes (now using v10.4). I had no troubles under OS X 10.6.8, but now iTunes just performs the backup and then immediately stalls on step 2, syncing contacts. Hoping this is not another hidden "feature"...

Haven't been able to fix it yet. Sort of fed up with 10.7's updating process in general, so am just waiting for the 10.7.1 update, but will go to a "genius bar" tech after that, if it's still a problem...

Same here, since upgrading to Lion, iPhone 4 nor iPad can sync with iTunes! Very frustrating. Do apple read these posts???

Solved my issue by reinstalling x-code. Looks like when I downloaded the new version it stuffed the connectivity.

    1. Remove old version using correct scripts

    2. Install new version

    Works perfectly now.

I was finally able to fix this by deleting everything in my user account's Library/Application Support/SyncServices folder, then starting again from within iTunes 10.4. I had also rebuilt my contacts file by exporting from Address Book, deleting, then re-importing.
