iTunes 10.4 BUG (Covers)

Hello there,

Since the last iTunes update (10.4), the bug REappears concerning artworks & covers in the finder, it's so annoying.

You corrected the bug in the last version of iTunes, all was perfect !!

But now with the new version (10.4) the bug reappears... You can't see the cover with the "preview SPACE fonction"

So please correct this bug once and for all.

Bug found with OSX 10.5.8

& iTunes 10.4 (80)

Thanks !

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Hello Maccers,

English:

I'm got also the same problem with covers in Finder, So i'm opening some Mp3 files it will automatic opens iTunes and add them to my iTunes Library, if i wanna edit some ID3 tags that works full but the coverillustration doesnt appears in iTunes or it takes a few seconds when it appears (i'm use BMP pictures), But since i have updated my iTunes to 10.4 it even never appears on the thumbnails in Finder and the strange things is, I have it only with iTunes 10.4 edited Mp3 files.

Not with with Mp3 files i'm edited at iTunes 10.3 10.2 10.1 10.0 or earlier they just have album-art thumbnails on iTunes and Finder.

Nice tip! but it was not the solution to solve this problem, 😉

I got an map with all my artworks (BMP pictures) and music files so i got them on my MacBook and on an USB stick (full backup).

To add artworks/covers with the button 'add' beneath the tab "show info".

I'm can do this like before but the problem is "drag and drop" it works same like "click on the add button" so thats its not an option because it not works😟,

iTunes and Finder doesnt shows that artworks like "previews", and if i'm open some mp3's and than i'm go to my music library and click right and than i'm click on show info than tab "artwork" and the picture is (still) placed at the file.

please steve solve it!, it drives me crazy

but thanks for all of your help! 🙂

I have the same problem, and though I'm positive Apple will soon fix this bug, I did find a temporary solution on one of the other (5) posts I've seen about this same issue: you have to save the album artwork on your computer and then drag the file to the Artwork spot on your iTunes. Hope that helps you as much as it did me! (:

Very annoying, just when I was in the mood to titivate my vast collection too.

If you are desperate to get finder to preview mp3s as covers, try this: Right click file and go to Get Info. Once open, simply play with the file association (open with) by reassignng between iTunes and Quicktime. Hey presto; only trouble is, you have to do it for each individual track and if you copy the files out of your itunes/music folder then finder stops seeing the embedded album cover...

On top of the above, if I add album art via iTunes on my Mac then try to add them to my NAS (and via that, to my Sonos system), the art disappears altogether. Oddly, that doesn't happen if I add the album art via iTunes in Windows 7...

Oh Lordy, we should learn not to update instantly, and I'm certainly not sticking my head in Lion's mouth yet!

Well, 10.4.1 hasn't fixed it for me! In fact, nothing appears to have changed. Still no pasting of album art, still no icons in Finder unless you twist the system's arm and no embedded covers that Sonos can see. Thanks Apple.

What's more, if you read my post above where iTunes works in Windows, that's only because I hadn't updated the program on my laptop; it is in fact gorgeous, functional iTunes 10.2!

Let's hope that 10.5 works, 'cause I can see myself drifting back to Microsoft at this rate. So frustrating when the old version used to work so well... 😟

This new version of iTunes 10.4.1 HAS NOT fixed the problem entirely......

It only made the cover art appears again in Quicklook (when press Space Bar) for the music files stored on your iTunes media library. And the icon preview only shows the cover art when i'm not in my default icon size (64x64)... Guys, you try to change the icon size, you'll see that works...

I have tried to copy the same files to an external hdd, but unfortunately the cover art HAS NOT SUCESSFULLY SHOWN IN QUICKLOOK, so does the icon preview...... Very weird BUG!!!

Apple please fix this problem all at once...... the BUG HASN'T GONE AWAY!

Thank you.

Hello guys,

I'm working right now with an apple technician to fix the problem, they are trying to find why the bug appears.

I sent to us all infos with screen shots in order to help us to find the problem, the guy is correct and serious.

He's not a "guy who takes the call" he's a real technician so I think it will be ok in 3 weeks for all OSX versions.

Actually the problem appears on :

LEOPARD

SNOW LEOPARD

LION

Please be patient, the new "itunes update" will come soon, now i'm sure of that.

Bye.
