fix for sweat damage/touch screen not responding?

I was working outside with my itouch playing. I first noticed a problem with the volume going to max and not lowering when I tried. I did not realize until a couple of hous later that there was water (sweat) trapped in the skin. I tried to dry it out with rice (five days)then just left it out in room-- today is day 10 and it still doesn't work. I can see my screen picture and I can hear when mail comes in and when hooked up to computer it is updating my podcasts.

The "slide to unlock" does not respond and when I press power off it doesn't slide either, but the cancel touch button does work.

How can I find out how to fix this myself. I've searched online to no avail. Is it just the screen and digitizer?

Sorry so long.

Thanks for the help.
