For what it is worth, I have not upgraded to Lion, but did install Mac OS X 10.6.8 and I cannot charge my battery. I thought the battery died so I bought a new one. It worked for about 1-2 weeks and suddenly, it will not charge. I have performed the SMC reset and no change to the battery not charging issue.

I am having the same issue with my black MacBook 4.1, which seemed to start after upgrading to 10.6.8.  I tried the SMC reset.  Battery condition shows as normal.  Charge is down to 11%.  Does not seem to decrease as long as AC Power is plugged in.

I've just called Apple Care and I've been told to take my MB to an authorized center, this is to say: Apple won't admit this error as theirs, so they'll treat our computers as separated cases. Typical...

Of course, I'll insist in making Apple guarantee (because I've just bought a """new""" operating system, this is a product) pay everything. I swear Apple won't dare make me pay anything MORE (I think that 23,99€ is enough for this face-cleaning operating system).

    I'll tell you, guys...

Hello Everyone, i can't believe Apple can release Lion with a major flaw undetected! My 17 Macbook Pro simply won't charge since updating yesterday with the Lion minor fix. I have a dead machine and i am visiting Apple Birmingham on thursday morning to see what they can do. Here are the warning signs: fan kicks in when there are only one or two programs running, the keyboard light doesn't seem to go off, and finally you notice battery is not charging while the maglite is green? Finally, machine dies, then, you connect maglite, it turns orange suggesting its charging, after 4 hours its still orange!! You check battery life indicator on the side and its on the lowest setting. This has cost me a days work. Extremely let down by the mighty Apple Corp.

    Any updates on this issue.

I have upgraded to Lion last week, and currently have 10.7.1 version on my MacBook pro laptop.  First few days had no problem, but from yesterday (6th day), the battery was not charging, and after going to 0% charge, it is a nightmare to get the system to start even with the ac power on. Even resetting the SMC or Pram does not help.

Can Apple team look into this and provide a solution/workaround.

    Same issue here.

Yesterday, I did a clean install of Lion on a early 2008 MacBook and an upgrade from Snow Leopard on my early 2011 MacBook Pro.

Since then, both devices fail to charge - battery is draining even though plugged in. Magsafe adapter tested, and is not the issue. SMC reset did not solve the problem.

Anyone with a solution so far? Any update is appreciated.

I've tried SMC reset en PRAM reset. No cigar.

Actually I'm not realy a heavy user, and when I use my MacBook it's allmost always plugged in, so my battery won't discharge... That is untill I installed Lion...

No al of a sudden I only get a green light on my MacSafe, and not a red light (indicating charge). I get a message Condition: Replace Now. And I se that my power source is Power Adapter.

I strongly believe that some firmware update was done, otherwise it would charge after shutdown of MacOSX. Right?

Is there news to share on this matter? Anyone?

    O. One more thing... Is it normal that Spotlight is indexing like a Mad Man and fans are spinning through the roof?

My Macbook battery isn't charging at all since upgrading to Lion.  The only way I can use it is if the power source is plugged in.  Kinda defeats the purpose of having a laptop if you ask me :/  I've tried all the "fixes" to no avail.  I really hope Apple fixes this problem really soon because I'm pi**ed to say the least.

MacBook pro 13" Late 2011 and the exact same thing here and Mountain Lion didn't help one whit. Battery shows charging, normal but is sitting at 4% at the moment. Its my daughter's laptop and Apple's silence on issues like this make me crazy. I don't (won't) own anything Apple because I remember how they initially handled the iPod rechargable battery issue back in the day and I think that their business practices are unecessarily partnernalistic and predatory. Just look at how a unibody's keyboard is designed to maximize capillary action when a liquid is near and it will be no surprise that you have to replace the aluminum top as well when a keyboard goes. C'mon Apple give us a break, most profitable company in history and you need to leave us all hanging. My kids love Apple and between them there are 2 ipads, 1 iPhone, 1 Macbook pro, 2 nanos and an iPod but I won't buy one more thing until Apple resolves this. I'll vote with my purse and feet
