After running iTunes, Macbook pro won't shutdown

I am using iTunes 10.4 and have recently installed the Lion OS. The problem has existed for about 3 months now (I was running snow leopard and iTunes 10.3), I have been to the Genius Bar numerous times, on the phone with Apple Care and in many chat rooms, all to no avail... The problems is that if I open iTunes at anytime after starting my system, then I am unable to shutdown. The screen usually goes as far as the bluish/gray screen with the spinning ball but then I have to hold in the power button to shut it down completely. This problem does not occur when i run any other program, only when I use itunes. Activity monitor claims itunes is closed and not using any CPU, so I really don't know what the problem could be! I have used the repair function in disc utility and I have done a complete system re-install (once with time machine and once without), nothing seems to work! Any suggestions out there on how to solve this annoying problem?
