PTCL EVO (EVDO) USB Device Installation -- update

Problem

PTCL EVO installation on Macbook Pro (Lion).

Solution

Got going after using a very useful post from MBKhan (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2683846)

Simplified/updated instructions below as it seems PTCL has improved the installation process.

1. OS is Lion

2. Got the driver for the modem (ZTE AC2726) from PTCL's website (http://ptcl.com.pk/downloads.php?pd_id=181). If you can't find the page, just click "Downloads" and eventually you will come to a page that has the drivers for all terminals.

3. Extract/copy the driver dmg file on a USB stick (or just download it on your Mac if you are already connected somehow).

4. Mount the disk image and click on the install script/program. The installation is done automatically. It requires a reboot when done.

5. Plug in the modem and click on the application shortcut on the desktop, or run it from the Applications folder.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7)
