So any other ways i can get the drivers beside using the snow leopard disc? Sorry I'm used to be a window user and this Mac OS thingy is still very new to me.

I have answered but I will one more time

You can (a) download the drivers using Windows Support Software Download or (b) use the Snow Leopard Disk

ref You can (a) download the drivers using Windows Support Software Download or (b) use the Snow Leopard Disk... (csound1)....

I've tried several times to do a) - but no joy.... other posts suggest just retry and retry and retry - you might get lucky.. and b) I don't have a snow leopard disk (and from the sounds of it, if you dont have one, then you'll need to apple store and buy one... I'd much rather a) work....

Is there absolutely no c) option (download the required Windows support download file(s) from somewhere else?? seems barmy to have something thats only available 'hit and miss' - is it hosted in an apple employees house on the end of a dsl line?? 😝

EDIT - just as I submitted the above, the a) option worked (after about my 60th try!!) - seems that you just have to keep retrying over and over!!

I get the same error message on my MBP ("Can't install Windows Support Software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server."). I've been running Windows on a Bootcamp partition for years now (previously XP, now Windows 7), but I am using Bootcamp 3.1 instead of 3.2 by choice because the latter always caused fatal driver problems for me. I would like to try Bootcamp 4, but it remains unavailable by Bootcamp Assistant download after some weeks now -- same error message as original at top of thread. Is it true that Bootcamp 4 is only for Airs or otherwise restricted? Is Bootcamp 4 still somehow experimental? I hope Apple cleans up this mess soon and makes it "just work," but in the meantime I hope that someone out there can offer some constructive and viable insight into how to get Bootcamp 4.0 after upgrading to Lion from Snow Leopard. This a great community and resource. Thank you.

No not yet. I've been reading further in some other posts and saw that someone said that there are only Boot Camp 4.0 windows software updates for the Mac Book Air and that the rest of us have no upgrade at the present time. I'm not sure if that's true or not. Can anyone confirm that?

It is untrue that it is limited to MacBook Air's only, it is almost true that it doesn't work however, I have twice downloaded from it succesfully (both occasions the machine was a 13" MBP) and seen it fail many more times!

Be patient, it can work, sporadically at least, or use the Snow Leopard retail disk for machines with a disk drive at least.

Is it any more reliable on a MacBook Air?

I will be getting one for my wife next week and if so may save a bit of frustration to just try then.

It's erratic, nothing to do with the machine as far as I can tell, I have downloaded it on 3 occasions, 1 MBA and 2 MBP, but each one took around 4 hours (including 'retrys')
