I installed lion on my iMac and my iBook and have problems with my printer (Canon LBP5000). The driver seems to be installed and the printer is shown in the prefs (print&scan) but the sending of printimg data doesn´t work. Does anybody know how to resolve this problem?

Same problem here. Why Apple remove CUPS support? The Canon driver is still for MacOSX 10.6.8.
Hope the driver will be updated, I can't use my laser printer.
Apple did not remove CUPS in Lion. It is still the core printing system so I am not sure what makes you think they did remove it.
When that original post was made the version 3.40 of the CAPT driver for Lion was not available (it was not released until October of this year). So if you install this latest driver and read the included documentation for adding the printer then you should be able to print.

Canon Europe http://software.canon-europe.com/ does not have this driver update available. Also the copyright footer states 2010.. Thanks for .au-link!
