I am trying to use AirDrop between two of my Macs over wifi. I can see the other Mac clear as day, but when I drop the file onto the user circle I get the error, "The Apple ID certificate for "DLR2" is invalid. The transfer has been canceled."

I figured it out, at lease I solved the issue that I was having. System Preferences>Users & Groups. make sure you have your Apple ID filled out. It took me a while to find it, works great now. I hope this is the same issue that you have, good luck.
Thanks! I've had even two Apple IDs filled. The good old windows-styled reboot saved my day. It works perfectly now.
Well the good old windows style reboot worked....but only once. Now it fails again. Is there a possibility that it fails for me because I have two macs but one Apple ID?
Any help appreciated. So much unlike Apple to release a stupid product.

I found the solution!!!! Go to System prefrences at Users and groups, then click on ID Change and then delete your new ID, that is @me.com

Solution:
Go to System Preferences> Users & Groups, Delete the Apple id and then reinsert again on both the systems. Done.
Force Quit finder on both systems before you start and then start using airdrop.

Nope it doesn't!
Multiple people have reported that it completely depends on whether Apple Gods become happy with that step. Sometimes its a combination of steps (i.e. delete and re-create the Apple-ids, reboot bot machines, re-start finders, etc.). By far the most consistent way to get it to work is to reboot both machines which may allow you to do ONE transfer (the next transfer fails).
BTW, just so you guys know, there are apparently multiple active threads regarding this issue. Tells me that there is a deeper problem (very un-characteristics of Apple since most of the time whatever they release, it just works)
I used Airdrop untill yesterday but now I've the same issue reported from DRL2. The solution given by psr24 doesn't seem to work to me too.
Waiting for some fix....
I've tried again the solution given by psr24 without restarting Finder and now Airdrop seems to work again.

Had to delete my Apple ID and type it in again... and it works now.
I have tried the suggested method (delete apple id in user account) and it work BUT ONLY ONCE. When I want to use Air Drop again, create Apple ID, delete it and it work again....
I don't think this routine is a solution, what happen to apple id and air drop???
