how can i add airdrop to finder sidebar?
I have a 2-yr-old 3.06GHz iMac Core 2 Duo with 4GB RAM. Upgraded to Lion and cannot find Airdrop on Finder sidebar, nor any option to add it. Ideas?

This is an FYI for anyone needing to find out if Airdrop is available‼
I now have High Sierra installed & when I wanted to use Airdrop. I accidentally dragged Airdrop out of my Finder sidebar. DAH‼ 🏻♀
Then remembered preferences has the sidebar options. I went to preferences checked the little box to add to my sidebar.
WAH LAH ‼Back in business‼
So if in doubt check your Finder preferences... if you have it in your computer it will show up in the list of sidebar options‼
Cordially, Peggy
If you don't see AirDrop in the sidebar, then your mac does not support it. For iMacs, you need an early 2009 or newer.
I'm afraid you're wrong there Len. While you're right about older macs not supporting AirDrop, there's a chance it may have been removed from the sidebar favourites. In this case you'd need to add it back.
In order to add it, head to Preferences in the Finder menu and see if AirDrop is an available option.
If so give it a tick. It should now be in your sidebar favourites 🙂
The following Terminal commands will enable AirDrop on OSes 10.7+, and in addition, enable it over ethernet, on the same network:
defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser BrowseAllInterfaces 1
killall Finder
Following the completion of the "killall Finder" command, AirDrop should appear in your Finder sidebar. If not, try a restart.
