How can I download files with Chinese names from Gmail in Safari?
Works fine in Chrome and Firefox, but in Safari the Chinese characters are converted to question marks.
MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7)

It sounds like an encoding problem, but I suggest you just use a browser that works rather than try to fix it.

Yeah, that's probably the easiest option. I've been using Chrome, but I really like the full-screen mode for browsers in Lion, so I've--at least temporarily--switched back to Safari. The Chinese encoding issue with the titles of files downloaded from Gmail is really annoying, though.

same here, unsolved.
Same issue here! Unsolved after YEARS of this issue.
I dig through the downloads folder and paste a copied file name at least 15 times a day.
And Mountain Lion was supposed to be a big push for Chinese language users. Still a fail.
Really want to be a Safari supporter - would love to see this solved, Apple.
Super frustrating that his has not been fixed yet. Hope someone from apple will look into this.
