After updating my 2.Gen MacBook Air to Lion i have no sound (speakers and microphone) in any of my apps, like Skype, Telephone... (but i still can listen to iTunes and the system preference shows that my microphone is working) what can i do?

Go to :
Preferences -> Sound -> Under " Output " makes sure " Internal Speakers " is checked and under " Input " makes sure " Internal Microphone" is checked
Then try again
that was the first thing i did and yes it all set up to internal... it dosn't even work with my iPhone headphones too... the system sounds and iTunes/Quicktime/Safari, are working perfect... Skype, Telephone and Rosetta Stone are not recognicing either the Microfone or the Speakers... not the internal one... and not the headphone 😟
Sounds to me like you could use a Reinstall of Lion.
But I would recommend calling Apple Support first.
Some devices may have not registered correctly during the Upgrade
i just wounder course it works with some apps... i got skype to work... i just dont know how...
Yeah..I does sound like you need a Reinstall but call Apple just to make sure
okay just installed tleephone new now its working... i only have the problem that i can not install rosetta stone anymore... afer about 10 secs ill get an error...
Lion is probably not compatible with the current version of Rosetta stone. I would call Rosetta to check on that
I've had similar audio issues with Lion... The speaker is also noticably lower in volume on Lion than Snow Leopard.
I have a similar problem with Rosetta Stone. Using a Logitech headset one USB port works ok for mic, the other works ok for headset, but neither both. Settings checked and ok and other apps eg Skype work fine....confused!!
Hey all....was having the same annoying problem with no mic showing up in Rosetta Stone but when I updated to 3.4.5 all was good.... 🙂
I am also having a same problem.
- Macbook Air (New Version) with Mountain Lion
- Rosetta 3.4.5
- Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB (one of the recommended headphone by Rosetta)
When I used left side USB port, the microphone on Logitech works fine but no sound comming out from ear piece. I can use speaker on the Air, but it defeats the purpose of headphone. No driver were provided by Logitech for MacOS, their website said it is already embedded with MacOS.
This is hurrible. I think the problem is on Rosetta side (since headphone works fine with Sound configuration and any other apps, except Rosetta).
Hi. I followed a few threads and was lead to the link below. If you download this update .dmg and run the install it'll fix the mic problem.
A big thank you to docorema for posting this link. I FINALLY got my Rosetta stone headset to be recognized and that too without buying more software or upgrading platforms, etc. THANK YOU!
