Error: URLs with the type "file" are not supported

I get this error when in my office. I pretty sure it is reference the other servers that I access while here. The full error message is: There was a problem connecting to the server....URLs of this type "file:" are not supported

I am still able to access the servers. Any ideas as to how to fix the issue so as to eliminate this annoying message?User uploaded file

I've been getting the same error message, often one after the other, since updating to Lion.

I just managed to fix the problem! I went into the Preferences (hold down Apple icon top left of screen and select "System Preferences"), clicked on the "Time Machine" icon (next to last row towards the right), and slid the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position. Like magic...no annoying error message! All I have to do now is remember to turn it back on now and then to back up my laptop.

It's so annoying!

People have said switch Time Machine off, or re-designate a different hard drive.

But I don't want to turn my Time Machine off, because then it won't remind me about backups. Nor do I have a different external hard drive to designate; nor do I want to keep my time machine hard drive plugged in all the time.

Boring!!! Must have clicked that OK button 9 milllion times since I got Lion. WHat a waste of energy.

I turned Time Machine off, but do turn it back on once a week to back up my files. If you want a daily back up it might be a good idea to turn off Time Machine in the morening, and at night, before going to bed, turnin it back on and plug the computer into your backup disk. Sorry to hear your laptop died and lost some work Clatter Amy.
