Here's a little trick I just discovered..right click (Cmd + click) on the movie and open with QT7. (Nothing else was opening my movie and giving Audio and Video... or would let me trascode with both)
File > Export and export as an mp4.... Doneski!
now I can open with QT 10.1, MPlayer etc and even transcode and whatever else =)
Thanks, I really appreciate your reply, but I don't have QT 7 anymore. Does it even run under Lion?
In answer to Does it run...? - Most Definitely!
I upgraded from Snow Leopard and QT 7 is exactly where it was in SL - in the Applications/Utilities folder. As mentioned Cmd + Click on the video giving the issue and see if QT7 appears in the context menu. If not I believe you can still download QT7 directly from apple. I saw it there only a week or so ago,,, I had quite a few issues with it crashing initially after the upgrade as I had re applied all my codecs,,, I found that keeping things simple with Lion works best. Stick with the basic codecs that come with Lion, install DIvx etc if you must... I have a subscription for Flip4Mac so installed it and updated it and also perian. Other than that I have mPlayer and VLC for more troublesome media.
Hope this helps....
Thanks Fred, you are a genius!
Thanks from me too, but it's a nuisance having to go back to QT7 all the time. Is there any way of converting these old movie clips so they work with the latest QT?
