Hi :)Sue
Thank you your welcoming correspondence.
Re: Try turning off "playback during import" in your import preferences.
Are your referring to turning off the option "Play song while importing". In the itune/preferences/advanced/importing window? If so, I don't have it on.
Regarding you advise of posting my issue in the iTunes Forum. I don't think Itunes can support HDCD. If it could that would be great, but why isn't there an option for importing AIF's greater that 16 bit. What makes you sure that itunes can support the 20 bit HDCD transfer rate. For that matter, are you sure that the Mac OS can support HDCD and finally, how are you sure that the Mac's hardware can support HDCD.
This issue is very similar to my problems trying to play Dolby Digital with apples DVD player when it was first released. Even though they printed the endorsed Dolby Digital logo was on the start-up screen. That issue was resolved when Apple finally updated QuickTime to finally support the AC-3 signal.
Thanks for you input, but I would like to keep my posting as I have it. My hope is to reach as many viewers as possible, especially those that have a strong interest in keeping audio free from compression and for those that haven't confused audio with a slick marketed database application such as iTunes.
Kind Regards
Kevin
