Ever since the iPad 1, many users have had problems staying connected to their routers. Seems the iPad family is more "sensitive" and requires newer firmware on routers. Which router are you using, how old is it (might need replacing), and does it have the latest firmware?

Aside from that, have you reset the iPad?

After months of excellent connection to my wifi network I began having dropouts throughout the day. After some research I came across a suggestion to reboot my router. After the reboot of both the router and iPad I am no longer having the dropout problem. Perhaps refreshing the connection was the solution. It is worth a try.
