i just updated my itunes to itunes 10 and now i can't access my itunes store. ????
I have the same issue: can't get to iTunes Store, progress bar is frozen about half way across... also my iPad and iPhone do not sync anymore,,, when doing the backup part of the sync iTunes hangs... i have to kill it with the task manager.
Additionally, Safari cannot get to any website,,, mouse pointer just spins... IE, Firefox, Chrome and Opera all work just fine.
I have removed all Apple sw (iTunes, Safari, QuickTime, Software Update, Application Support, Bonjour, Mobile Device Support, MobileMe, etc.) cleaned out the registry using regedit, rebooted and reinstalled and get the same results.
Win 7 Ultimate SP1, 64-bit
Apple: Please post a fix ASAP!
I have the problem as well. I can sync my phone however. I also noticed that some downloaded material is MIA.
Me to, latest upgrade.
Come on Apple, this is not the first time you've done this. I do not intend to spend another whole day removing mucked up registry entries (which it was last time)
Still I can always shop at Amazon!
Also can't open iTunes Store. This happened after upgrading iTunes software to latest version. But, I can still sync my iPhone - this may be because I didn't upgrade the software on my phone.
I sent a request for help more than 72 hours ago on Apple's "Express Lane". Have only received an auto email response that was totally useless. It refers to error messages but the problem is there is no error message.
Sorry, forgot to mention that thanks to the upgrade my computer's CPU Usage goes through the roof while iTunes is running. Not unusual for it to reach 100% and it is never lower than 50%.
I have actually had a very nice support person working with me on this by e-mail for several days. Unfortunately, no suggestion thus far has solved the problem, nor has there been any ackowledgement that the program upgrade may be the cause of the problem.
My iTunes is working properly again (incl. Store) thanks to excellent telephone support from Apple Australia!
We tried many things but eventually it came down to uninstalling iTunes and re-installing it from the website. The un-install process was done (using control panel; remove/repair software) in a particular order to ensure there would be no residual files. For those interested the order is:
(1) iTunes; (2) QuickTime; (3) Apple Software Update; (4) Apple Mobile Device Support; (5) Bonjour; and (6) Apple Application Support.
Good luck. I hope it fixes everyone else's problems as it did mine.
Thanks Brian, this has worked for me. Also Itunes loads a lot quicker.
Its a shame you pretty much have to uninstall every piece of Apple software to get one of their own update to work
Thanks again, and to your support person as well
Hi Stephen, great to hear it can and does work for others. And, thanks for the 'thumbs up'. Cheers, Brian
Good Morning Brian...and it is a good morning now that I am able to access iTunes. Thank you for your post. I did exactly what you said and it worked. Have a great day. Debi
The suggestion to uninstall a long list of Apple programs and then reinstall ITunes finally worked for me. Thanks. As a precaution, I also cleaned registry and cleaned junk files and privacy files using third party utilities, and then flushed cache and rebooted before final install. iTunes still "hiccups" during opening like it wants to hang up or crash, but so far, it sails past that and works, including the store.
Thanks, Brian - it WORKED - hurray! Days of frustration are over until the next issue strikes us! Cheers!
I reinstalled Safari and it took me back to the original problem, that Safari cannot get to any website,,, mouse pointer just spins... IE, Firefox work just fine.
So am gonna go thru the unistall/reinstall for all Apple stuff and NOT reinstall Safari until further notice. Any suggestions?
Thanks
The uninstall/reinstall everything Apple fix worked for me too on my WinXP machine -- untill I accepted the next QuickTime update. Now I am back to not being able to access the iTunes store. (Still works fine on my PowerBook G4.)
Hi O'cts, maggie and all other ******-off iTunes user who have been screwed by this update. I tested Maggie's problem and encounterred the same issue. Sorry, O'CTS I'm not going to test your's out also. I deleted Safari from my computer and will not re-install until Apple come up with a fix. (my iTunes is working again after uninstall/re-install) I'm now using other well known and respected browsers. O'CTS, my suggestion is you follow a similar path and replace QuickTime. The customer service I received from Apple Australia was fantastic but in contrast, Apple America customer service *****!!!!!!!!!! After nearly 2 weeks awaiting a positive reply from Apple's American customer service, today I was emailed to ring their American Technical Support from my Australian phone and further advised that I could take a "payment for support" option - why would you bother for a "FREE" program????? Sorry Apple, but this is not the level of competence, service and support that contributed to you becoming a competitive and viable alternative to Windows! Admit there is a problem and fix it!!! Brian.
