Dear All,
I've upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion last week (directly, no clean install). All works fine, but it seems the Sync utility is removed (for the upcomming icloud probably) from Lion. However, the icon is still displayed in the menu bar.
Does anyone know how to remove the icon from the menu bar?

Maybe this:
Hold down the Command (cmd) key and drag it off.
or
Open iSync > Preferences > uncheck Show status in menu bar

I'm actually trying to get the sync icon to show up again, after upgrading to Lion. I have done it on one computer, but can't seem to remember how... I am not a MobileMe subscriber, and simply use Gmail contacts.
Start the app and in preferences check the box
Which app would that be?

Right, that's not in Lion I'm afraid.
To restore icon, or any other menu icon:
Navigate to
/System/Library/Core Services/ Menu Extras
double click Sync.menu the icon will be back
