My iphone 4 crashed during 4.3.5 software update. iTunes pops-up notification that it cannot complete the update and my iphone hangs with the apple logo and update status bar

Hold the power button and home button for 10s until you see the iTunes connect logo. Then plug it in to your computer and try it again.
same problem since yesterday! look at my post, there are some ideas, nothing helped me!!
SOLUTION:
I had to buy the lion update for 24,99 Euro and install it.
It was no problem to update with that.
Seems the way to "convince" people to buy the upgrade. Thanks Apple, no techsupport, no solution, but i have to buy the new version of the OS.

I also have an iPhone 4 and kept getting a window saying "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later."
I ended up disabling my virus protection (Kaspersky) and got it to download and install. Now, *hopefully*, all apps and everything else will still work!
I had the problem for days. Here's what works.
I have Kaspersky antivirus. I went to Kaspersy and temporarily disabled all components. The the update ran fine.
