iphone 4 won't power up

My iphone 4 was fully charged last night. Overnight it has switched itself off and now it won't power up this morning. Connecting to power supply or Mac - nothing happens. Anyone else experienced this? Only had the phone a year. Have tried holding down home button and power button - connecting it to iTunes. Nothing. It just won't respond.
