Laserwriter 4/600 not working after 10.6.8 update

Hi,

my old Apple laser writer 4/600 used to work like a charme as a network printer via an old MDD Mac when I would print from my iMac 27 2010 in any Snow Leopard version up to 10.6.7. With the 10.6.8 update it broke and would not print anything from the iMac any more. I did install the fixes I could find around the net, but to no avail.

Today I was thrilled to see, that Apple had issued a 10.6.8 fix, that would hopefully take care of the printing problem. I did run the update, then deleted the laserwriter as a printer, added it back as a printer and even reset the local talk bridge, but unfortunately it is still not printing. When I print directly from my MDD Mac, it works fine, but of course that is still running 10.4 Tiger.

Is there a chance to get it to work again? The printer itself has only printed 10,000 pages and still works very well. It would be a shame to throw it out.

As far as I see it, the print jobs are just hanging in an endless print cue and are never sent off to the printer.

Any help would be appreciated.
