OpenEXR sequences not updating?

Hello,

I recently bought Motion 5 to try it out. As someone coming from After Effects, it seems it has potential, especially for "lighter" projects.

Now, maybe I'm overambiyious here, but for my first project I thought I'd try to composite some OpenEXR / 720p image sequences from Blender 3D. This is where I've run into trouble - the EXR sequences don't seem to play, scrub and preview right. Whenever I open my project, the sequence will show the frame where the playhead is, and then stay there until I quit Motion. It won't even play in RAM preview, but it will export / render OK.

No amount of playing with quality and resolution settings has solved this. The files open fine in Blender, Preview, and Photoshop, so they seem OK. PNG sequences (@640x480) that I had lying around update fine.

I'm on latest Snow Leopard, i7 MBP / Radeon HD6750M (GPU-switching off).

As a new Motion user, I'd like to ask whether anyone here has experience with this, is there a setting I'm missing, and can you confirm that this is unexpected behaviour?

But I have tested it on mac pro (with xeons and about 12GB ram) openexr image sequences did not updated too. In both cases the os is snow leopard 10.6.8. BenB yours 16bit openexr sequences update fine?

I have also tested all possible openexr configurations (using and not using compression, various bit depths... ). Also the color space is shifted, but i have writen my own motion plugin that fixes this.

I use motion for 3d animation postproduction and shot integration. I have tested openexr sequences from autodesk maya and blender, none of them updating.

Any suggestions? Or is it possible code my own file loader, I have searched through web but found nothing about writting motion plugins for custom format support. I guess no body in apple expect that motion 5 will be used in real tv production, which is sad ...

Has anyone gotten this to work yet? I'm having the same problem. 16 bit EXR image sequences aren't updating in the viewer. I've tried changing the frame rates, viewer render resolutions, etc. but the image just doesn't change when played in the viewer even though it appears to have been read in properly. The media controls show the proper number of frames and I set the FPS correctly. If I start and stop it sometimes it updates when I stop, but that's sporadic and it won't update while playing...
