Thank you. But I'll just resort to my trackpad until apple finds a fix. Lion is meant to be intuitive to use. Not having to manipulate my preferences. I'm just get annoyed by the lack of focus with apple's software. The small stuff matters.
Hello,
I had the same problem. My magic mouse would not scroll with OS Lion but all the other options would work. What worked for me: if you have magic prefs, open it up, click on configure scrolling on the bottom right of the box and then check the box that says vertical for the one finger scroll and your set. It should work. I hope this works for other people.
Thanks for your time
Hi there! I so totally forgot to come back here and mention and that I resolved my issue. I completely forgot that I have a tiny app called called MagicPrefs that runs some additional gestures for my MM. I decided to uninstall it (which had not shown incompatability before) and presto! the MM worked. All vertical and horizontal scrolling came back. I even reinstalled MagicPrefs and the MM is still running smoothly. The inertial scrolling is even smoother than before.

Thanks for your post, it worked with my MM too.
Well done shipley714
This was exactly the issue! Magic Preferences had all these check boxes unchecked.
Thank you this has been driving me mad for longer than I want to admit too
You rock!!!! This was driving me nuts!!!
I uninstalled the app called "magicpref" and volia! Mouse started to scroll again....!!!!
I then when and downloaded the newest version of magicpref and installed it and confirmed that once I installed it again that the mouse again stopped scrolling.
Then I came accross this doc. Haven't done it yet. But it claims to fix the real problem so that Magicpref will work agian.

Hi Luke,
In fact, I reinstalled the latest version of MagicPrefs and my MM still works perfectly.
Do you perhaps have an app called CleanMyMac (it cleans iOS devices, too)? CleanMyMac allows you to completely uninstall an app from your Mac.
You are then able install the latest version of an app without there being traces of a previous version of the app on your Mac's HDD or SSD.
As I have a Rev A MBA (with a severely limited HDD), CleanMyMac really helps to optimize Mac OS X to efficiently run my MBA.

Christopher
Christopher!
I'll have to get a copy some day. For now uninstalling it is cheepest quickest opton for me.
Thanks for the idea thought. I'm sure glad I upgraded my Macbook Pro 13 to a 1 TB HDD!! Ton's of space left...

To whomever suggested going to Universal Access..thank you! Worked with my mouse issues I began to have after I installed Lion. Also, discoverd a lot of things in UA that were not there before in Snow Leppy.
I wouldn't be surprised if you have a MBP 15" late 2010 model. There are at least two compatibility problems when using Lion on those machines.
1. The screen will go blank from time to time and you need to reboot in order to get it to work again. This can be solved by installing the free ad on gfxcardstatus and then choose to use only the dedicated Intel graphics on the motherboard. The problem seems to have something to do with the Nvidia GeForce 330 graphics card. The error reports always show that - and they have been numerous since I upgraded to Lion.
2. Bluetooth mice becomes erratic and unusable. This affects both Magic Mouse and older the Apple Bluetooth mouse. Only way to solve it is to reboot the machine. The mouse will then work for an unpredictable amount of time until it happens again. Anywhere from an hours to some hours.
Both these problem have been posted on several different discussion forum since shortly after the launch of Lion.
And Apple had done absolutely nothing to solve them. No updates, no official postings. That would be OK if Lion launched like last week. But it didn't. It was launched on July 20th last year! Almost seven months ago.
What happened? Did the sw dev people at Apple quit all of them?
The only real solution to these problems at the moment is to back down to Snow Leopard. Especially if you need the extra graphic power in the GeForce card from time to time.
THANK YOU! This has been driving me nuts, and this hidden preference did the trick!
I should add that downgrading to Snow Leopard is a tricky business which requires a carbon copy of your system folder or else you stand to loose all installed sw and will be forced to reinstall it again once you have downgraded. So Apple really put all affected users in a spot and there's still no word on when or even if there will be an upgrade that will solve the problems.
I had the same porblem. Once I resetted my SMC it worked like normal (scroling was back). Follow these steps🙂

MagicPrefs is definitely what fixes this problem. Remember that you can't open MagicPrefs from the application window you have to open it in System Preferences. From there you can click on Configure Scrolling and then check the box that says vertical scrolling with one finger.
Hi Keith
On my system it does not solve the problem. It improves the uptime between the mouse going haywire and all erratic. But it bombs out on an average of 2-3 days between errors. System restart solves the probem until the next time it shows.
I've resetting the SMC and zapping the PRAM and I have reinstalled Lion and I use the latest upgrad. But no. When using gfxcardstatus set only on integrated graphics the machine works doesn't quit on me any longer. But as soon as I need to use my 21" Cinema Monitor I have to go back to dynamic switching and with the GeForce card in operation the machine still just quits from time to time.
I was hoping that the new Lion update would solve the problem but it didn't.
Maybe a Class Action Suit would get Apple working on fixing the problem...
