Aug 26, 2011 7:40 AM in response to Maylynby Mr Neunz Jr.,Hi Maylyn,
You may have resolved this already but if I were you I would...
1. Use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable copy of your new Mac hard drive on an external HD. (So you can restore your computer to as new if ever needed and without paying to upgrade in the future).
2. Connect your mac to another mac in 'file transfer mode' and wipe the drive completely using disk utility, then install a fresh copy of snow leopard and enjoy your final cut studio 2 etc.
Note: This will give you the best compatibility and if you can live without the gimmick features of Lion, why not, until the bugs are all fixed!!!?!
Note: To do this you will need - access to another mac, an external HD and a full copy of snow leopard.

Aug 27, 2011 8:38 AM in response to Maylynby Terry Smelker,I don't know whether this helps, but I had to wipe my drive, reinstall SL an dall my apps, complete all the software updates (inscluding that last one for SL that helped prepare the SL transfer to Lion), then reinstalled Lion 10.7.1. Additionally, I installed Rosetta and QT7 off the SL disk, and all works perfectly- both FCS2 and Adobe CS3 (I was having similar issues as well with those apps). Thanks to all the help here!

Aug 27, 2011 10:02 AM in response to Maylynby Maylyn,Thanks for the suggestions. My solution was to switch to editing with Adobe Premiere Pro and sell my Final Cut on Amazon.
Goodbye Final Cut...

Aug 30, 2011 7:01 AM in response to Miralysby marionfrombedarieux,Should this work for other programmes? e.g. Roberts/Collind dictionary - when I try to open message "power PC applications not supported" appears. I'm not very confident about altering operating systems and am new to Mac.

Sep 16, 2011 1:28 PM in response to Maylynby sgutas,I finally got Final Cut Studio 2 installed on my Lion mac.
You can install Rosetta on Lion from the Snow Leopard installation disk. Put in your Snow Leopard DVD and navigate to the hidden /System/Installation/ directory. Find Rosetta, open and install it.
I had no errors here.
After this, open the Final Cut Studio 2.0 installer, and it should work normally. Unfortunately this trick does not re-enable all PowerPC apps, but somehow the installer works.
Hope this helps.

Sep 27, 2011 7:36 AM in response to sgutasby marionfrombedarieux,Have finally got round to trying this - but couldn't find how to navigate to System/Installation/directory.
Apologies for being dense but can you give any further clues?

Sep 27, 2011 3:38 PM in response to marionfrombedarieuxby sgutas,Insert the Snow Leopard disk, then click the Go menu in the menu bar.
Choose Go to Folder...
and type:
/Volumes/Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Installation/
That will take you to the directory where you'll find the Rosetta installer.

Sep 29, 2011 5:06 AM in response to Maylynby Ovid 01,I owned FCS2 which I used for some small vids, travellogues etc. It worked while Snow Leopard was installed. I listened to the Apple hype and accepted that what they were selling was important to the functionality of the hardware and software that I had. So I installed Lion over Snow leopard.
I hadn't used FCS since beginning of June and had no warning of the disaster that lay ahead until last night when I had to edit an audio/video audition tape. I now have real problems. FCS works, more or less, but it's impossible to use Compressor when exporting to Mpeg 2. There is no audio with the video and there is only half the the video there anyway.
The FCS software was worth A$1500 when I bought it and I never intended to upgrade as I don't use it commercially. So you can imagined how ****** I am that Mr Apple and the boys have sold me on OSX Lion as if it was the answer to a maiden's prayers when all it did functionally was to stuff some pretty expensive pieces of software.
And Mr Apple forgot to warn me of exactly what it would do. If he had warned me, I could have chosen to ignore the advertising hype and stick with older Snow Leopard, knowing that my applications would remain viable.
Now I find that pretty cheap and nasty. Particularly since, as a result of a defect in the code, Lion also caused Safari to crash (black screen of death at least daily and often three or four times a day.
As you can tell, I am very angry.

Nov 14, 2011 12:59 AM in response to alekswielkiby Nick Holmes,It's a lot of messing about when all you really need to do is install Rosetta from a Mac OS X 10.6 disc, followed by the FCS 2 Installer.

http://www.mediafire.com/?zd1mmy4nijn
and then reinstalled my FCPStudio 2 version 6.0 with no problems. Then upgraded 6.0 to 6.0.6 and it works great. Sees all my old projects. No hiccups so far. Thanks for the tip.
