Where are my mailboxes? I upgraded to lion and my stored mailboxes are no where to be found
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7), where is my mailbox?
Good question. Spotlighting 'mbox' comes up with nothing.
So I'm wondering how I'm going to migrate all my mail from my old iMac, given that Migration Assistant won't work for me (and the Apple helpline says hard luck, there's no fix for that).
Can't find mine as well. As Mail keeps on crashing when starting up I'd like to backup mailboxes.
Crashed Thread: 2 Dispatch queue: com.apple.root.default-overcommit-priority
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000010
I'm using Leopard
I shipped my stuff and was using my macbook. Now my mac pro is here but mailboxes are all missing - they are still on the macbook. Am using yahoo mail. Apple mail *****
I'm having the same problem. I know the mailboxes are still somewhere, because when I go to file an email in one of them, I go to messages, move to, on my mac, and there's the list, but I can't find how to access them to retrieve emails stored in them.
In the end I just imported the mail from Timemachine, I did find the email deep in the mail folder, In the end I beleive something happen during the install, It froze for a while. I tried to import from the folder but in the end I made a new mailbox and imported everything to that folder.
I just did not have time to spend trying to figure this out. This was a while ago but I remeber I found the mailboxes but could not restore them.
Good luck
Thanks for the reply. I found them. Why in heaven's name they hid them is beyond me. They're starting to think like microsoft, not apple. It scares me. Had to go to the finder, hold down the option key while clicking on "Go" and then click on library, then go to mail, then to folder V2, and there they were. Had a devil of a time figuring out how to get them to show again on my sidebar, but i did. Not sure I could remember how I did it, but I have them now.
Stupidly, Lion and Mountain Lion Mail hide the Mailbox sidebar by default. So someone who just upgraded can be forgiven for thinking their mail has vanished.
Near the upper left of the main Mail window is an icon that is a square with a triangle in it. It will say either "Show" or "hide" next to it. Click on this if it says "Show".
Voila.
