how do i go back to snow leopard?

boot from the snow leoaprd DVD and reistall it.

Boot from the Snow Leopard DVD and recover from Time Machine Backup is also another option.

I used time machine backup.

But make sure you have copies of any new important things like photos, documents etc before you revert to the last back up of snow leopard. I forgot the photos 😟

I had read it was hard or near impossible, but I just restarted from Time machine holding down Apple & R, then chose the last Snow Leopard back up, and a couple of hours later I had a properly functioning MBP!
