"Your bootable usb drive could not be created" - Boot Camp Error

Dearest Apple Community,

I'm having an issue with Boot Camp.

Just brought the new mac mini with Lion and the Thunderbolt port. I'm trying to install windows 7 via an iso file. I'm using an 8GB USB.

The error "your bootable usb drive could not be created". I then tried with a 120GB external HDD. Same error.

What could I tinker with to make boot camp work for me?

Thanks,

Alistair

I have the same error on a brand new Macbook Air.

File system on USB is FAT32

I think I just got it working. Make sure that you are trying to load the correct iso file. Boot Camp assistant will default to loading the first iso file that may the worong file - in my case that was the iso file for MS Office. Once I had a big enough USB it no longer gets the error. I dont know if it will fully work as it is still loading the files on the drive but I no longer the above error.

I know this thread is old and this reply is probably of no use to the OP now but I've been having several issues putting Windows 7 on my 2010 MacBook Air. After amending the Info.plist file to contain my boot ROM and model ID as mentioned by several users on these forums (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3435734?start=15&tstart=0) I also hit the "Your bootable USB drive could not be created error". A very simple solution: make sure the ISO file is not mounted when running the Boot Camp Assistant!

Stephen,

I get the error "Your bootable USB drive could not be created" because "An error occurred while copying the Windows installation files." This happens even after I unmount the Windows 7 ISO.

I do have the Windows support software on a 2nd USB drive (not sure if it's bootable or if that should matter?), so I only selected "Create a Windows 7 Install Disk" and "Install Windows 7."

Am I doing something wrong? How do I fix this?

Thanks!
