Can I download tv episodes from the ABC app?

I just bought an IPad and I have yet to set it up, but I am familar with how to use it. The first App I plan on getting is ABC's app so the wife

can watch her soap operas in the car on a trip. We did not get the 3G package so we're limited to Wifi. I was wondering if these

network TV apps, you can download a particular episode where it will save it on the IPad maybe on Itunes which means you'd be able to watch it

w/o Wifi or 3G in the car. Obviously, you'd lose Wifi capabilities. Kind of like loading it on your hard drive. I don't think this is possible, but I thought i'd ask.

I'm pretty sure it just streams so i'd need to be near a Wifi signal.

No you can't download episodes to the iPad. You need an Internet connection to watch.

If it's this app http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/abc-player/id364191819?mt=8# , then no you can't download for offline viewing without buying the episode - from from http://abc.go.com/watch/help# you :

You must have an Internet connection in order to use the app. If you'd like to watch ABC shows on your iPad while you're not connected to the Internet, you can purchase episodes from iTunes by clicking on the "Purchase from iTunes" button while playing back an episode (the button is only shown if the episode is available for purchase on iTunes).

Other apps/TV companies may vary.
