Q: What happened to Save As?

I use pages for my work invoices and have a pretty comprehensive filing for previous invoices. The omission of 'save as' in the lion version of pages is extremely frustrating. Is there a work around? Will they fix this in the future or should I switch to a microsoft excel worksheet?

    Hi:

Read here that Graphic Converter supported the opt-in or opt-out of version etc.

down loaded a trial and tested it.   It works both ways.  No problem

I then contacted Lemke and asked it the same features would be available on the APPSTORE

    his reply

    Hello,

    Many thanks for your e-mail.

The Apple Store version does support this option, too.

to means this implies that Apple may ask developers to install the new feaure but do no stop them from offering opt-out features.

    cheers...  elo

maybe after reading this information they will change their minds....

Correct. To be on the App Store, an app must support the new features, but that doesn't mean it's mandatory as the only option.

Where is the link to where Graphic Converter discusses this?  I don't see a link.  Thanks - appreciated.  Would like to read that.

Go to this page. Click on the link for the version 7 PDF manual. Then read page 11. The first paragraph under Lion states that you can turn Autosave off, which restores Save As to its menus.

Call me what you want, but your comments are indicative of what comes out in the wash.  And your track record isn't looking good.

I said "probably" because I don't have Neo Office in order to do static code analysis on.

    Have you got proof?

"You are also, very unsurprisingly, a liar."

    Et tu.

Give it up. Your credibility in this thread is less than zero.

You've had several opportunities to answer any number of pointed questions I've posed to you, and you haven't done so. Each was a question that was very relevant to the discussion going on here.

That you've chosen to pretend that the questions were never even posed leads to the obvious conclusion is that you turn tail and run whenever anything challenges your pre-conceived notions.

By ignoring these many questions (for your convenience, here is a link to just one post out of several in which they've been asked), you also have confirmed that the characterization of you in this post is entirely accurate.

That's really interesting Kurt. More proof that providing the option to turn off Autosave and restore Save As is possible and that there is a demand for it.

    Hi:

The thing that I have liked about communities and forums is that everyone is trying to help each other along.

Unfortunately, virtually every time I ask for help here some people try to convince me that what I'm asking for is impossible, backwards, or ludicris.  People have told me that my questions and ideas are inferior, or make up problems that I never had (for example they tell me to stop using iCloud as a solution to a certain problem when I never used iCloud to begin with).  I don't understand why people who work for Apple would allow this to happen.  I feel like I'm asking a Scientologist a question when I come to Apple forums.

That's why I've enjoyed this thread.  Because enough people have figured out that many Apple forums are currently useless too.

    More than yours.

You've had several opportunities to answer any number of pointed questions I've posed to you, and you haven't done so. Each was a question that was very relevant to the discussion going on here.

The more you bullied, insulted, patronised and misrepresented, the less I became interested in helping you.  You weren't worth my time.

That you've chosen to pretend that the questions were never even posed leads to the obvious conclusion is that you turn tail and run whenever anything challenges your pre-conceived notions.

Only because I answered your questions already and didn't want to repeat myself.  Go read the posts again... all my answers to your questions are already done.

"By ignoring these many questions (for your convenience, here is a link to just one postout of several in which they've been asked), you also have confirmed that the characterization of you in this post is entirely accurate."

It doesn't.  That statement was made on the basis of one act that doesn't characterise me at all.

I'm getting fed up with your stinking attitude.  Like I told your co-conspirator before, the same applies to you.

Your comments are so consistently useless, it isn't even worth acknowledging your presence.

Yup. The ability has been there all along. And yet, Apple doesn't give users that choice in the apps they write.

    Bsss!

    I really hope that this is the end of p e r s o n a l  a t t a c k s on this forum.

Either from "us" criticizing the loss of "Save As" or from "the others" trying to rationalize Apple's exploits.

    P e r s o n a l  a t t a c k s are just as useless as anything else, and those who did it should excuse themselves.

Are we less than grown up kids?

PS: We want Apple to reintroduce "Save As" and to give the user a choice in this respect!

RIGHT ON, Omar.KN!  To both your points!!

Especially the one to Apple though!!

p/s also thanks to Kurt for the Graphic Converter link!  VERY informative.  They actually explain some of the issue; including mentioning that the "versions" etc, can slow down your work with graphics.  Interesting that they see this and Apple does not!  Well, maybe they will finally get the idea with so many complaining.

I don't like it either, Omar. But you do have to admit, if it weren't for tonza's ridiculous attitude towards, well, everyone, this would be a very civil thread.

As it is, I meant what I said. I will not respond to anything else tonza says for just the reasons you state.
