After updating to Lion (10.7), I tried going into bootcamp, but found out bluetooth was gone completely.  I mangaed with a wired keyboard alone to look in device manager, control panel, Ncpa.cpl (all internet devices e.g. wifi, ethernet, bluetooth), and the task bar, and bluetooth is nowhere to be found.  I also tried startup repair and system restore, in addition to directory services repair mode.  Does anybody have an idea of what's going on?

So I fixed it, and I knew the root cause from the beginning but I finally found out how to fix it.  I had MotionInJoy (PS3 Controller driver) installed, and a short while ago, te bluetooth driver for motionjoy (which is SUPPOSSED to be designated to a dongle I have on the side of my keyboard, else it would override the existing Apple bluetooth adapter) somehow overrode the default apple bluetooth adapter in bootcamp.  So I eventually found out during the installation of the Apple drivers (bluetooth) that as soon as the bluetooth drivers were installed, the motionjoy ones overrode them.  So, after multiple apple driver reinstalls, I figured out how to COMPLETELY remove the MotionInJoy drivers (Device Manager>MotionInJoy drivers>Check off box to completely disable driver software>Click Ok).  After the MotionInJoy drivers are removed, the Apple bluetooth drivers automatically install themselves as they should.  If by any chance SOMEBODY has the exact same problem, I hope this helps.

I haven't been able to even log into my Windows 7 on my IMAC for like a month because I didn't even own a usb mouse or keyboard! So I bought some off ebay for a couple bucks, got them in the mail thinking I'd just need to rediscover them once I made it into windows...

Seeing how we had the EXACT same issue I'm sure you understand my frustration at the sheer and utterly zero amount of support on this issue...

So low and behold I mangaged to stumble onto this post and read about that rediculous MOTIONNJOY driver... I jsut wanted to use a ps3 controller to play bioshock... and it still sucked. But I've spent hours trying to even find out where the **** the bluetooth went... and why my brand new IMAC was being such a pain in the...

So literally 15 seconds after reading your solution my mouse and keyboard work again. Who would have thought...

    I mean really...

This post needs to somehow be the top hit on google as a solution. Not burried in the back of Apple's forum closet under all the other issues that don't pertain to me lol

    Thanks

This solved my problem too, thanks!

I didn't even know I had this problem until I needed bluetooth communication for my NXT.

In Parallels (/ VMware?), the MotionInJoy drivers did not seem to cause issues.

Also, I'd rather use my Xbox360 controllers since more games support it out of the box and doesn't need a crappy driver.

Thank you SOOOO Much! I was tearing my hair out with the same issue - I even suspected it might be the motionjoy driver but stubborness on my part refused to accept it could "override" the Apple Drivers... Again, Thank you so much!

@jose and everyone else that wants the controller to work properly over Bluetooth, make sure you have a Bluetooth dongle ( preferably http://www.gameaccy.com/bluetooth-dongle-for-motioninjoy because its the most compatible model, and MiJ is built based on it) in the computer (and that the drivers for the dongle itself are installed) and go into the driver manager (in DS3 tool/motioninjoy) and select all the devices on the list (it only lists external devices so USB and Bluetooth are the only ones that should be on there) and click load driver. Go to BluetoothPair and click pair now and Have paired to: should get assigned a MAC address for the controller you're using.  Now unplug the controller and reconnect it. Windows should install the MiJ drivers for your controller.  When the updates are completed, restart your computer.  While it's booting up, hold F8 at the Black screen wi the blinking underscore and arrow your way up or down to Disable Driver Signature enforcement (allows MiJ to install completely).  After you login, open DS3 tool and go to Bluetooth pair again and click pair now (the drivers were modified so the MAC address was as well). Go to profiles, make sure it says Dualshock 3 Bluetooth and click enable, then click vibration test to confirm enable was clicked and processed.  Unplug your controller.  Now your regular Bluetooth (mouse and whatnot) and your controller (from the dongle) should be working. I kinda forgot the whole process so I did the whole thing again while making this post and everything works as said above (I'm playing Saints Row 3, and can navigate the menus with both my mouse/keyboard and the controller simultaneously. They also both work in game. Hope this helps everyone! Remember, if you don't want to risk having to follow my original solution (overriding your default BT), you shouldn't really worry in the first place. Like I said, if you do mess up just follow my original fix for the a BT and try again (or not if you prefer.  Hope this works!

This completely solved my problems too. It is just really wired. I installed motion joy a while ago( last year, I can not really remember exactly when since I have not used it for so long and have compeltely forgot about it) and the bluetooth has been just fine until recently the whole bluetooth thing just stopped working. The bluetooth adapter just all gone from device manager. I have tried many many solutions including reinstalling the whole bootcamp driver pack, none has worked. Thank god I finally found this post. It is just a shame google put so many irrelevent search results on top of this one. Thanks man!!
