How can I change the audio output from mono to stereo on iPad1?

I am trying to hook up my iPad into the new Wadia 171i dock to run through a DAC into my main audio system. I did hook it up and it plays both iTune music as well as function as streaming audio (Pandora app). I also discovered that the audio output is mono (actually not true mono as it only plays 1 channel in both speakers - not both channels into both speakers). Is there a way to change signal to stereo?

Not that I've ever used, but given that he is getting 1 side of a stereo signal through both channels, and not true mono, I would still be more inclined to be his connection and not a setting. Unless accessability also has a setting for choose one channel of the stereo signal and put it through both channels? (Don't have my iPad with me today, actually using my MBP.)

Not sure on the iPad, but on the iPhone that setting combines the stereo channels and puts them in one, which would be a conversion to true mono. Taking just one side of the stereo signal how would you decide which channel they want to listen to?

Also just tested it on the iPhone and it appears this function is limited to the earphone jack but has no effect on the lineout at the dock. Is it the same on the iPad?
