Why is AirDrop transfer failing?

Exactly the same problem from a Mac Mini Early 2010 to a MacBook Pro 13" Early 2011 (Lion, french).

Everything worked fine until the copy of a big file from an external drive failed.

Now I have the message : «Le transfert a échoué. Reéessayez».

Still works fine from Macbook Pro to Mac Mini.

Anyway to restart Airdrop ? Or check Preferences ?

Having the same issue. Airdrop was working a few days ago, now all of a sudden sending files from my MBP the transfer fails, but when my gf sends me a file from her MBP it goes thru right away, and works the way its supposed to.

I have tried restarting, and relaunching Finder, but to no avail.

using a USB key for now.... 😐 😠

I too had the same error in Console. Following the suggestion to Force Quit Finder, I relaunched Finder on both systems. Now I can connect. I have a feeling that if a computer has slept for a while it ends up with an old SSL certificate of some sort and it will fail against a newer one. Or some nonsense like that.

Anyway... I now have a 16GB file transferring over (an Aperture library), bypassing my server, and it is rather nice.

I have the same issue between my late 2010 iMac and my late 2011 Macbook Air.

When I try to send from the iMac, everything works as normal. When i try to send from the Macbook air, I get the norwegian translation of "transfer failed, try again" (Overføringen mislyktes. Prøv igjen.).

I have tried to flash the finder and restart the computer but nothing happens.

Airdrop worked when I installed it at the Apple store. Now that I need to transfer documents and/or files, NOTHING is happening even though the airdrop icon for each computer (from MBP to MPair) appears on the appropriate screen.

What am I missing? What task did I forget to perform?

i had airdrop issues...

when sending to another machine from my own, the other machine instantly denied the request

when the other machine tried sending to me, it failed with a warning "apple id certificate is invalid"

go to the apple>preferences>iCloud

log out

log in

do this on BOTH machines

My MacMini AirDrop stop sending files but can able to recieve file from macbook pro.

I tried many things including relaunching finder on both side but NO LUCK.

After shutting down both macbook pro and mac mini and starting again solves everything.

Now i can send/recieve files from/to macbook pro/mac mini.

After 2 hours trouble shooting just to send 1 pdf file, and restarted my iMac a good deal of time... It still fails to transfer, or decline the transfer.

Honestly, the user shouldn't need to restart their devices, iMacs every single time just to transfer files via Airdrop...

and I can see the issue haven't been solved since 2011!!!

I am having the same exact issue, my girlfriend's Macbook Pro can send files to my MacBook Pro (same year) but I cannot send them to her?

Same issue here.

Another post says that one should force quit Finder on both machines, and then it will work. This is what I did, and it did work after not working for a few days.

Force to quit finder in both computers and it will work fine, I just did it!!!

Sorry but how do you force quit finder? No option while right clicking?

Option and Right-Click on the Finder icon in the dock to find "Relaunch" in the pop-up menu.
